Transitional Dining Room, Philadelphia
A small end nook off the formal living which was open to a stone fireplace and had an entry directly to the kitchen created an ideal intimate supper or breakfast area. We divided the chairs into two pairs, one in a sleek modern stripe and skirt, the others upholstered in a cream brigade with Chippendale legs, and contrasted the whole with the simplicity of an antique Sheraton table (which has leaves and could be expanded for more company,) The typographically designed bamboo mat under the table lightened the composition and brought wit into the room, as well as helping to define the small eating area.
