Although this house is located in an enviable spot, right at the entrance to Portsmouth Harbour, the owners were missing a trick, as they were unable to see the sea. Apart from craving the elusive view over the harbour and out towards the Isle of Wight, the house also lacked a master bedroom and outside space. Having discussed the issues with the couple, I came up with a plan to remove the roof and build a brand new storey that would give them a master bedroom with en suite, plus a terrace facing the harbour entrance. Being a Grade II listed building in a conservation area, gaining planning permission was always going to be a challenge. However, after just two submissions, consent was granted. The property now fulfils its full potential and the owners are thrilled with the transformation to this characterful home. The house, including the room with a view, was featured in the January 2016 issue of Ideal Home magazine
