Samantha Watkins McRaeIn the bathroom we used a seamless plaster wall finish to allow the marble mosaic Istanbul flooring to sing. A backdrop for warm smoked bronze fittings and a bespoke shower enclosure bringing a subtle opulence.
Design & LoWe wanted to re-imagine the configuration of the classic metro tile by stacking vertically rather than horizontally which provided a more modern aesthetic. We integrated a tiled dado and skirting as a nod to the original period features in the home and introduced a befitting hint of grandeur.
This was a small bathroom to work with, so we were keen to keep the finishes to a minimum. We specified two colour tones of metro title with a strong blue and off white and painted both the walls and ceilings in a fresh modern grey. We added handmade porcelain wall planters by a local artist to add some contrasting green planting to the walls.

Revival by DesignWhen we were asked by our clients to help fully overhaul this grade II listed property. We knew we needed to consider the spaces for modern day living and make it as open and light and airy as possible. There were a few specifics from our client, but on the whole we were left to the design the main brief being modern country with colour and pattern. There were some challenges along the way as the house is octagonal in shape and some rooms, especially the principal ensuite were quite a challenge.

Studio MilneThe bathroom is a compact space with low ceilings, so I wanted to make it feel as light and airy as possible. I kept the colours natural, adding texture and special luxurious touches with the terrazzo, sheer curtain, fluted glass, and tiles. These rich but subtle details catch your eye, making the room feel bigger.
The green glazed shower tiles pick up on the specks in the terrazzo floor tiles, and the Carrara marble skirting board adds luxury and creates another level of finish.
I specified ABI Interiors matching brassware. Their electric heated individual towel rails can be turned on and off whenever you need them to save energy. The shower controls are located just outside the shower enclosure, so you can turn the shower on in advance and let it warm up a little before you enter.
To maximise storage, I included an Aqua Roc basin with drawers underneath. The Carrara marble ledge and Tika Moon walnut wall unit provide even more space for my clients to stash things away.
The freestanding bath and circular Spark and Bell wall lights add softness and curves. The sheer curtain is mounted on a wave track to give a lovely, rippled effect.
