Sally was asked to design and oversee the complete refurbishment of this stunning yet poorly converted one bedroom apartment set in a handsome period mansion block on the outskirts of Covent Garden in Central London. Enormously high ceilings give this apartment a New York lofty feel while large original windows flood the space with natural light. Sally discovered that original windows and decorative pillars had been boarded up and so immediately set about reinstating these unique period features. A streamlined kitchen with expansive lightly veined worktops and contemporary oak cabinetry was designed to compliment a classic oak parquet floor, giving the apartment a light, contemporary and natural feel. Drenched in a soft duck egg blue the Master Bedroom feels calm and serene and a statement chandelier and velvet cushions and curtains in rich rust add dramatic contrast and a sense of luxury.

This bedroom, part of the New England & Cape Cod–inspired home by Studio212 Ltd, has been conceived as a calm and elegant retreat. A bespoke timber slatted headboard wall with integrated LED lighting creates a warm architectural feature, framing the upholstered bed. On either side, pendant lamps from Heals provide ambient glow and balance. To the left, a bespoke floating dressing table/desk with mirror is paired with a King Living chair, adding both practicality and refined texture. Soft cushions and a wool throw in shades of green layer subtle contrast against the crisp quilted bedspread, while a pale carpet grounds the scheme in comfort and calm.

The traditional raised cabinets merge with the practical essence of an organised space, where the bedroom has been meticulously tailored to evoke a sense of relaxation and opulence. The attention has to go to the dressing table/TV unit. A charming Duck Egg colour that matches the rest of the bedroom is harmonised by walnut panelling, which adds depth and visual interest. Simultaneously, the modern allure of the brass handles shines in striking contrast. As you can see the beautifully detailed cornices have been added to the bedroom and we also flowed our Traditional shaker design into this space. You will also find slim wardrobes, overhead storage and and open-shelf bookcase.

Our clients purchased a country cottage in Somerset and asked us to carry out a sympathetic refurbishment programme throughout. The brief included the redesign and build of the kitchen, bathrooms, reception areas and gardens and covered spatial planning, lighting design and the specification and sourcing of furniture, cabinetry, decorative lighting and accessories. We worked closely with our clients, incorporating existing pieces, such as a sofa and furniture by Timothy Oulton, to create a colourful, contemporary and edgy take on British country style.
