Casement Windows

Traditional House Exterior, London

Flush Upvc casement windows are relatively new to the market (last decade) and are in response to clients wishing to restore the traditional period look to their property. Interestingly these period flush casements also give a contemporary look and are very popular in anthracite grey. Flush casements look different to standard storm casement windows (popular since the 1950’s), in three ways. Firstly, the sashes are perfectly flush with the frames and don’t protrude forward. Secondly the none opening sashes still have opening sash framework (dummy sashes). This makes all the glass the same size in both the opening frames and none opening frames (equal sight lines). Thirdly inside, the frame and sashes i.e., transoms and mullions have a deep, rich, period look, just like you get with period timber. Note: Flush casement frames look heavier than standard storm casements, assuming dummy sashes are fitted, but this is an illusion. Get the tape measure out and they are the same size.
