What Houzz contributors are saying:

Make an entranceAs a hallway is somewhere you don’t tend to linger, it’s a great place to have some fun. Here, the homeowners have really gone to town and lined the walls with vertical stripes, which draw the eye up and make the ceiling seem higher than it is. The bursts of deep pink on the stripes lead the way to the solid block of colour in the room beyond. To make a hall look longer or wider, rather than higher, you could opt for horizontal stripes instead.

The corridor leading to the children’s bedrooms has been given a fun, circus-style makeover. ‘Before, it felt too serious and grown-up, so I hand-painted the stripes with the help of masking tape,’ says Henriette. ‘The stripes are the same size as the roller I used. It was so easy, and the children think it’s great.’

the lines leads the eyes up down, shows the height in the room. Makes the room seem more formal. (ryan)

this photo shows vertical lines because of the pattern that's painted on the wall

The Vertical Lines give the room a more longer look like it is taller

Vertical lines because the paint on the wall are strips that are going up and down which makes the room look taller.

6. vertical line In this lovely home of color they went with a vertical line them in the hallway leading to the bedrooms.

Vertical Line A vertical line is a house may suggest action, or doing something. Such as standing. These lines give character to the otherwise pretty empty hallway.
