First modelsThe first three models of the tubular steel recliner were made for the library and study of the Villa Church, Ville D’Avray, and the gallery of the Villa La Roche, both in Paris, in 1928. Villa La Roche was originally constructed to be both a gallery and the private residence of Raoul La Roche. The architects were Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret themselves, and the chaise was designed to go inside. Today the house is classified as an historical monument.
