Don’t ask: Where do you get your design ideas from? Your place is so unique……or “so quirky!” Or “so you!”Drawing attention to your friends’ off-beat interiors style, even if you’re impressed by it, can also be read as criticism. It sounds a bit like the sort of question people ask when they’re confronted by a very personal look they’d never choose for their own home, and they don’t know what else to say. Do ask: Can I shake your hand?Choosing a unique style for your home deserves applause!TELL US…Have your guests ever put you on the spot with an awkward question? Let us know in the Comments below.

5. Infuse it with personality. In this London entry, the designers glued the pages of vintage magazines to the walls and covered them in a clear varnish. If you try this as a DIY project and the quality of the paper is delicate, you can use color copies of the pages. If you have an older home, consider using issues published the same year that your house was built.
