Creating an organic, flowing, Japanese-inspired aesthetic that is easy to maintain created many obstacles for our designers. Integrating specific elements, such as a small circular sitting area and the summer house, required thoughtfulness. Adding a Japanese-inspired water feature meant to accentuate the space without overwhelming it was also a primary concern. We took several steps to ensure we could bring this garden design to life: The shape was an almost circular, large lawn with all elements radiating from its centre. The garden features a small circular patio halfway off a naturally flowing stepping stone path. The path leads to the summer house at the rear. Bamboo poles add some verticality to the composition, making the visual flow consistent. A Japanese garden adjusted to the Scottish climate inspired a meticulously chosen planting plan. A Japanese-style water feature hidden between bamboo shrubs adds a sense of tranquillity.

Deep beds of perennials and grasses create a foreground of ever changing colours and forms through the seasons, drawing the clients into the garden to explore further. A seating pod has been positioned on a raised area to enjoy views over garden and the hills beyond.

A stunning English cottage country garden design, with large beds of vibrant summer flowers, including swathes of Salvia through mixed borders of perennial and herbaceous planting to create soft movement and textures. We designed different areas to the gardens, each evoking a different ambiance. The gardens include a new heated pool and a sunken spa, with stunning views over the sun-lit fields beyond.
