an exciting closet conversion in an occasional room. call it french provincial or shabby chic, we layered 3 different colors to give the cabinet an old peeling paint effect. the closet framing studs could not be removed since they were load bearing so that inspired me to design curved bookcases that would utilize the space. we bent 1/8" acrylic onto the curved backs and backlit it with led lites. the doors under the desk pocket back to create a knee space and the top pulls out to make a computer desk. the finish is conversion varnish so even though it looks old and weathered it is very strong and durable for every day use.
