What Houzz contributors are saying:
How to EnterAll you have to do to enter is to go to our London Home Design Awards 2018 homepage. Fill in the short submission form and upload at least one photo of your beautiful space. Entries close at noon, 8 June 2018. Once the competition closes, Houzz and the Evening Standard’s Homes & Property team will contact finalists in each category. It will then be up to our fantastic panel of judges to decide the winners in each category.
For an excellent overview of all the ways you can use Houzz to get help with your project, we also have a series of really cool video stories – before and afters in which celebrities makeover a relative’s home. As well as giving you a good nosey around other people’s houses and showing a different side to some well-known names, the stories also illustrate in a super-clear (and heartwarming) way just how people have used the platform to complete a project from start to finish. See inside, for starters, Ashton Kutcher’s mum and stepdad’s house as Kutcher battles with his stepdad over whether or not to keep his cherished recliners
In keeping with the rich tones of the living room, the dining room has a similarly dramatic feel thanks to a smoky grey feature wall and a dramatic black chandelier. Vintage finds and salvaged treasures add extra layers of interest and character to the space, and Hayley’s shopping skills ensured most of the items were affordable finds.“I went to car-boot sales and searched Gumtree for unique vintage pieces,” says Hayley. “I got the rug for £5 and some tea chest side tables for £10 from Gumtree.”Wall painted in Down Pipe, Farrow & Ball.
