There are a pair of bi-fold doors on each side of the opening (so 4 doors altogether). Each door is approximately 725mm wide and 2550mm high, so the full opening is about 2900mm wide. Be aware that it is essential to use appropriate heavy-duty hinges in a door arrangement like this. These doors were purpose-made by the building contractor as part of the whole renovation/ extension project.

4. They can be repeated insideThe bifold doors to the garden are echoed by internal bifolds in this home. It’s a clever way to frame the views – from one room to the other and to the garden – and makes the interior feel harmonious. It’s also a reminder that interior bifolds are handy for sub-dividing a room without losing openness, especially when the opening is large, as here.Discover the best way to open up your kitchen extension

Bring bifold doors indoors A popular choice for connecting the indoors to the outside, bifold doors can also be a smart solution if you want to add flexibility to an open-plan ground floor. Here, they offer the option to close off the kitchen-diner from the rest of the house when required, but fold back almost invisibly against the wall when not in use.
