Traditional Garden

Winter Favorites #4 - Globosa Blue Spruce (Picea pungens 'Globosa' Globosa Blue Spruce is a great addition to your garden for any season, but it is especially helpful this time of year. It's sapphire blue needles add a much needed boost of color and are a great compliment to the red tones of Winterberry Holly and Red Twig Dogwood. Globosa Blue Spruce also adds a light color to the heavy dark green of most evergreens like holly. We use it as a specimen, usually within a bed of low growing Mondo Grass, Carex or Liriope. The differences in texture between grass like plants and the Spruce needles helps showcase this specimen. Often slower growing, plant Globosa Blue Spruce in a full sun to mostly sun location for the best color. Expect an overall size of 3-5' tall, and around 4-5' wide in a general round form.
