Love your house! If we can work it out I’m inclined to build the house to 14ft above BFE. John H says that we can bring in dirt to get us to 9 feet BFE and I’m wondering if you couldn’t strategically get the garage and walkway into the house a little higher (10ft or so) to keep the stairs to 4ft off the ground level. May not work out — we’re definitely worried about flooding and taking all reasonable precautions against it.
