What Houzz contributors are saying:
Sort and storeThe doors are an integral part of the design of this neat under-stairs storage, as they form the wall in the now-clutter-free hallway. There are lots of specialist companies that offer under-stair solutions to (hopefully) make haphazardly stacked cupboards, where you slam the door shut and hope for the best, a thing of the past…
Slide them awayThe true potential of an understairs storage area is often lost, as it can be hard to reach the awkward corners in the space. Some clever joinery, however, can turn the area into a brilliant home for shoes. These pull-out cupboards put an end to any rummaging around in the back of the understairs area for those trainers. They’ve been fitted with slanted shelves, which allow for a better visual so you can pick out your shoes with ease.
Pull it outLike larder units in your kitchen, these user-friendly shelves slide out for easy access. If you’re storing an assortment of things, or – as here – shoes, rather than hanging coats, this sort of design works really well as there’s no such thing as ‘back of the cupboard’, meaning you’re less likely to lose things.
9. Under the stairsInstall shoe storage under the stairs with pull-out shoe racks. The space under the staircase can be an awkward place to access and is prone to becoming messy. By turning the cupboard into drawers, you’ll utilise the space more efficiently.
