The void space of the alcove is a treasure chest for storage space. Many homes have chimneys. Chimneys mean alcoves. With some clever design we can reclaim this space and bring it to life with shelves, in-built cabinets, mood lighting and more.
Here we see traditional detailing tailored to this period Fulham home. Thick set, adjustable MDF shelving contrasts with the finesse of the mouldings and cornices. A single, low-level unit hand-finished on site in a light enhancing,eggshell paint brings storage capability to these long forgotten corners.
