The Hartford collection is an inspired modern update on the classic Shaker style kitchen. Designed with simplicity in mind, the kitchens in this range have a universal appeal that never fails to delight. Each kitchen is beautifully proportioned, with an unerring focus on scale that ensures the final result is flawless.
The impressive island adds much needed extra storage and work surface space, perfect for busy family living. Placed in the centre of the kitchen, it creates a hub for friends and family to gather. A large Kohler sink, with Perrin & Rowe taps creates a practical prep area and because it’s positioned between the Aga and fridge it creates an ideal work triangle.

Cookbooks are a part of nearly every kitchen, this open shelving cabinet at the end of the island keeps those cookbooks within reach. The shelves also provide an opportunity to add some color and personality with decor items that won't get in the way of everyday meal prep. This three-story, 11,000-square-foot home showcases the highest levels of craftsmanship and design.
With shades of soft greys and linens, the interior of this home exemplifies sophistication and refinement. Dark ebony hardwood floors contrast with shades of white and walls of pale gray to create a striking aesthetic. The significant level of contrast between these ebony finishes and accents and the lighter fabrics and wall colors throughout contribute to the substantive character of the home. An eclectic mix of lighting with transitional to modern lines are found throughout the home. The kitchen features a custom-designed range hood and stainless Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances.

This clean and classic Northern Westchester kitchen features a mix of colors and finishes. The perimeter of the kitchen including the desk area is painted in Benjamin Moore’s Nordic White with satin chrome hardware. The island features Benjamin Moore’s Blue Toile with satin brass hardware. The focal point of the space is the Cornu Fe range and custom hood in satin black with brass and chrome trim. Crisp white subway tile covers the backwall behind the cooking area and all the way up the sink wall to the ceiling. In place of wall cabinets, the client opted for thick white open shelves on either side of the window above the sink to keep the space more open and airier. Countertops are a mix of Neolith’s Estatuario on the island and Ash Grey marble on the perimeter. Hanging above the island are Circa Lighting’s the “Hicks Large Pendants” by designer Thomas O’Brien; above the dining table is Tom Dixon’s “Fat Pendant”.
Just off of the kitchen is a wet bar conveniently located next to the living area, perfect for entertaining guests. They opted for a contemporary look in the space. The cabinetry is Yosemite Bronzato laminate in a high gloss finish coupled with open glass shelves and a mirrored backsplash. The mirror and the abundance of windows makes the room appear larger than it is.

An antique Chinese frieze hangs above this kitchen’s original fireplace. Bronze farm sinks, bronze hardware and a bronze raised bar are accented by fossil limestone countertops; a subzero wine refrigerator, dishwasher drawers, a Wolf gas, five-burner cooktop and a restaurant-style faucet of brushed nickel, giving this kitchen a gourmet touch. The flatscreen television on an articulating arm makes it even more tempting to spend hours in this family’s favorite spot!
An original brick fireplace and woven wood blinds add warmth alongside the many stainless steel appliances. A light tile backsplash, ceiling, lights, and glass leaded cabinet fronts provide a good contrast that keeps the kitchen, with its dark cabinets, from being heavy and oppressive.
Cabinet Innovations
The main wall of the kitchen houses a 36" refrigerator, 24" dishwasher and sink. Cabinets go to the ceiling with a small top trim, all wall cabinets have recessed bottoms for under cabinet lights. Chef's pantry storage is featured to the right of the dishwasher. All cabinets are Brookhaven with an Alpine White finish on the Springfield Recessed door style.

Simply Home Decorating
The owner of this suburban townhouse was looking to decorate her space in a clean contemporary style. Her main priority was to accommodate her large extended family in the tiny family room off the kitchen where everyone always gathers. We maximized the seating with an apartment sized sectional that seats six, added a compact armless occasional chair in the fourth corner of the room and provided two ottomans that can be stored against the wall and brought out for extra seating when needed. A palette of grays and warm walnut wood tones are punctuated with hits of orange and fuchsia in changeable items like toss pillows and throw blankets. This old tiny kitchen now boasts big space, ideal for a small family or a bigger gathering. It's main feature is the customized black metal frame that hangs from the ceiling providing support for two natural maple butcher block shevles, but also divides the two rooms. A downdraft vent compliments the functionality and aesthetic of this installation.
The kitchen counters encroach into the dining room, providing more under counter storage. The concept of a proportionately larger peninsula allows more working and entertaining surface. The weightiness of the counters was balanced by the wall of tall cabinets. These cabinets provide most of the kitchen storage and boast an appliance garage, deep pantry and a clever lemans system for the corner storage.
