What Houzz contributors are saying:
Stick on a little styleIf painting cupboard doors isn’t possible, it doesn’t mean you can’t get the look of coloured cabinetry. You might associate it with retro craft projects, but sticky back plastic (Fablon) is fantastically useful. If your cupboard doors are flat, you should be able simply to stick sheets over existing doors, ready to peel them off in the future without a trace (always do a patch test somewhere inconspicuous first). Avoid dated-looking faux-wood designs and stick to block colour.

Install open shelving. In a spot where every inch of storage is at a premium, open shelving is not the first option that comes to mind. But as long as you keep it neat and organized, it can be a design asset that helps a kitchen feel more open. And an open shelf is a great place to keep your oils, herbs and spices handy in the cooking area, as long as it doesn’t get too much light.
