Rustic Family Room-Living Room

Transitional Games Room, Nashville

We completely gutted this tired bonus room. The old fireplace was dark wood with green marble, so we refaced it with natural sandstone and dry-stacked it all the way to the ceiling 20ft high. We closed in the stairwell leading into the room to better soundproof it for movies and sports. Along with adding the tongue-n-groove wood slats and custom beams to the ceiling, we ripped out the old window seats and laced in new hardwood floors. Finally, the TV was place over the mantle instead of in an armoire on the side wall so that we could do an oversized sectional sofa and make the fireplace the only focal point in the room. There are 4 rolling hide ottomans in the center of the room, 2 leather chairs on the left side of the room and an 80" long rustic console table with 4 industrial stools on the right side of the room hidden behind the sofa. This allows the family that lives there to host lots of kids for the big game! Photo: Matt Moran
