Contemporary Staircase, London

Canal completed this feature contemporary floating staircase for a four storey home in London. The hidden metal work within the wall achieves the seamless floating effect of this staircase. Solid walnut timber box treads sleeve over the steel cantilever channels, which protrude from the wall. Canal then install one large piece of low iron glass as the balustrade panels to act as a subliminal stringer. On the ground floor, the glass balustrade continued into the tiled floor, where a hidden stainless steel channel hosted the glass panel to maintain its structure. In addition, the installation team install three glass partition panels on to the first floor. This allows the natural light to flow from the windows and throughout the steps and continue into the rooms. To finish the luxury look of the property, a stainless steel handrail perfectly complements the staircase balustrade. Brown sumptuous leather wraps around the steel handrail and then hand-stitched, matching the walnut stair finish.
