Small Mediterranean Living Room Ideas and Designs

The living room, as shown in the Before photo, started out as a small rectangular area facing a plain fireplace. The view beyond is stunning, and so the design of the room and the enhancement of the fireplace and window treatments were designed to enhance and frame the breathtaking view of San Diego Bay. The first objective was to enhance the appearance of the fireplace with an old world flavor. It was decided to cover the wooden top with stone, as well as the facade. The fireplace is given depth and texture by adding stone trim and molding. The result is a dramatic improvement in the ambiance of the room. The custom furniture was scaled to fit the room. The area rug was also custom designed to add a splash of color. Lighting fixtures were changed, and beautiful drapery panels with Roman valances complete the room without obstructing the view. An ottoman serves dual purposes as a footrest and coffee table. Carefully chosen lamps and accessories complete the warm look the clients wanted.

Here we replaced the wall between the living and dining rooms. This created extra support for the stressed ceiling support beam, and allowed furniture to be more easily placed. The built in dish cabinet is seen nestled next to a corner nook as it was when it was first installed in 25'. We left two 4' openings in each side of the wall, and wired the wall to accommodate a flat screen on either side. This allowed the kitchen area still to be included in the living area activities.

Cabinet Tronix displays how custom beautiful matching furniture can be placed on each side of the fire place all while secretly hiding the flat screen TV in one of them with a motorized TV lift. This solution is great option versus placing the TV above the fire place which many home owners, interior designers, architects, custom home builders and audio video integrator specialists have struggled with.
Placing the TV above the fireplace has been in many cases the only option. Here we show how you can have 2 furniture pieces made to order that match and one has space for storage and the other on the right hides the TV and electronic components. The TV lift system on this piece was controlled by a Universal Remote so the home owner only presses one button and the TV lifts up and all components including the flat screen turn on. Vise versa when pressing the off button.

This compact living room provided the foundation for the update to this existing villa. The travertine floors provided a neutral color palette and paired with the beige walls created a seamless flow.
Natural, textural, and organic finishes were selected to create a soothing effect. Simple linen drapery on an iron rod provide light control and add a softness to the Venetian plastered walls.
