Day lilies are a great addition to borders, - I find them tough plants that add colour late in the season when the first cacophony of herbaceous perennials have died back. The wild species are mostly yellow or orange but there are nearly 4000 hybrids. They particularly like heavy moisture retentive soil so you if you have clay go for it.
