The Round House
Country Kitchen, Devon
Historically the building was a donkey powered Mill and still retains the large round room where this process takes place now serving as a delightful lounge/living room with a view.
As a busy professional with a young family practicality was a must, to be combined with respect and appreciation of the beautiful architecture of this ancient building. We designed a classic country kitchen complete with pantry cupboard, farmhouse sink and cooks bench for extra work surface. 40mm Ash was chosen to add a softer feel to the Valley White granite work surfaces elsewhere.
It can be a challenge to work in period houses but very satisfying to combine with the client and the architecture to achieve a practical, balanced, beautiful space to cook, wash up and congregate.
