THE SCHEMA GARDEN: homage to Charles Rennie Mackintosh

The gate design is repeated to enhance and justify an existing large Yew Tree; handmade brick pavers in natural muted earth tones and textures, ground the new house into its landscape; they lead off a natural self-binding aggregate driveway. Its geometry creates a dual purpose courtyard to the house. Hardened exotic planting takes advantage an enclosed micro-climate to echo the client's history of both South Africa and Dubai. © drawings & design Jane Finlay
