THE SCHEMA GARDEN: homage to Charles Rennie Mackintosh
A curved pathway follows the line of the terrace step-down. The planting borders themselves follow both the curve of the pathway and the house itself. They are edged in anthracite black-brown steel to further define their shape yet are softened by the planting. The border planting proximity to the house is key in co-joining it to its landscape and the wide lawn pathways encourage exploration plus enhance views through and to the lake. The planting is a personal reminder for the client of years in South Africa and Dubai. © drawings & design Jane Finlay
