“There is only one thing worse than losing the one you love, and that is losing them without knowing why. If you are a dog, then your master is like a god to you, and the pain of losing him is greater still.” – Louis de Bernières, author of Red Dog

Our pets are part of the equationOur Houzz study found that 40% of us are making pet-related upgrades to our outdoor area. Creating space in which our furry friends can run and play (31%) and incorporating toxin-free plants (24%) are the most popular choices, while some (6%) have even installed paths for pampered pets to explore.

Get the shears outGet hold of some sheers and give bordering hedges and overhanging plants a haircut. This is easy to do and immensely satisfying. If you can’t reach high branches, hire someone to do the job for you. It’s legal to cut back anything overhanging your property, even if the plant is growing on your neighbour’s land. This will allow extra light into your garden and can help plants that have struggled this year to thrive in 2017.Do you have any plans for your garden so it looks great now and blossoms come spring? There is a garden chair for her and a garden chair for me. That’s completely as it should be. I am her loyal companion, after all. I’m worth it.
