" Please confirm whether this is your own home?

IN FACT, IT IS OUR OWN HOME

" Please confirm that you live in London?

YES, 100 BROOMWOOD ROAD

" Is this property owned or rented?

OWNED

" Where is this home (area) and who lives here?

MY HUSBAND AND I, THREE KIDS AND NANNY

" What did you do to the space and how long did it take you?

I WANTED TO ADD AN EXTRA "ROOM" TO THE HOUSE AS THE GARDEN WAS NOT BIG ENOUGH FOR THE KIDS TO PLAY in ANY LONGER AND WE ADDED A BIG PLAYROOM IN THE BASEMENT FOR THEM TO RUN AROUND. WE WANTED A SPACE TO ENTERTAIN YEAR ROUND SO BY ADDING THE CHIMNEY AND A HEATER ON THE OTHER END OF THE GARDEN IT BECAME A GREAT SPOT TO HAVE DRINKS YEAR ROUND BEFORE SITTING DOWN TO DINNER.

I ALSO WANTED SOMETHING PRETTY TO LOOK AT FROM THE KITCHEN. I MAKE BESPOKE CAKES (BAKERBYTE.COM) AND I SPEND ALL DAY IN THE KITCHEN. I FIND INMENSE PLEASURE LOOKING OUTSIDE THE KITCHEN INTO THE GARDEN.

THE PLANTS HAVE BEEN CHOSEN STRATEGICALLY. I WANTED EVERGREENS SO IT LOOKS GREAT YEAR ROUND. AND LOTS OF FLOWERS IN THE EARLY AND LATE SPRING. THERE ARE 5 BEAUTIFUL DAVID AUSTIN ROSE BUSHES THAT KEEP BLOOMING FROM JUNE TILL NOVEMBER! A SOURCE OF ENDLESS BOUQUETS FOR OUR DINING ROOM.

AS FORT HE WORKS WE CARRIED OUT. WE COMPLETELY RE DID THE WHOLE SPACE. WE BUILT A TALL WALL IN THE BACK WITH A CHIMNEY AS A CENTER FOCUS. WE ADDED A BENCH ON THE SIDE TO USE AS SEATING WHEN WE HAVE DINNER OUTSIDE. WE BUILT THE FLOWER BEDS AND THE SHED IN BRICK, SOLID WOOD DOORS AND BLACK SLATE ON THE ROOF TO LOOK AS THOUGH IT WAS ORIGINAL. WE PAINTED IT ALL IN F&B DROP CLOTH. THE COLOR OF THE WALLS AND THE FLOOR CONTINUES THE SAME COLOUR AND FLOOR SCHEME FROM THE KITCHEN SO WHEN WE OPEN THE BIG KITCHEN DOOR IT LOOKS LIKE ONE HUGE SPACE.

WE ALSO CHANGED THE GARDEN DOOR AND GAVE IT A CURVE AT THE TOP AND ADDED SOME BRICKS OVER IT FOLLOWING THE CURVE. THE LIGHTS ON EITHER SIDE OF THE DOOR ARE FROM VAUGHN. AT NIGHT WE COVER THE GARDEN WITH AN IBIZA SAIL FOR MORE PRIVACY AND TO KEEP THE WARM AIR IN FROM BOTH THE CHIMNEY AND THE HEATER!
IT TOOK ABOUT 4 MONTHS TO BUILD.

" Who helped you with the project?

SAM KAVANAGH AND DAVID FRANCISCO

" What's your favourite feature?

THE CHIMNEY!

" How much did it cost?

AROUND £15000
