Updated landscape to address lack of curb appeal in neighborhood. This landscape creates flow and interest throughout the property. A rock garden was installed in the back yard to address erosion and drainage issues at end of the back area.

Our house was built 70 years ago by a camellia enthusiast, Dr. J.M. Habel. For whatever reason, nature rewarding us after a hard year of the pandemic, or the 6" of rain we got in February, but the hundreds of camellias he planted, bred, and nurtured, exploded in flowers this year and put on a dazzling show. If you are interested in camellias, Bob Black with Bennett's Creek Nursery in Smithfield, Virginia is an expert.

Creating several comfortable and functional outdoor rooms in this urban backyard was the primary goal. 1) A deck with outdoor kitchen elements and built in seating. 2) Bluestone terrace with fire pit sits 18" above the soccer-lawn. 3) The garage rooftop allows for complete separation and drinks in the garden. 4) Oh, the trampoline pad (under the tree canopy) - I believe that's what triggered this wonderful project!

The formal linear front entry is part of the Georgian architecture of this stately home, filled with boxwood hedges and lush green ground cover. The backyard features an English garden that is multilayered & densely planted with trees, shrubs, perennials, hybrid tea roses, lilacs and annuals to provide a continuous bloom throughout the season. The view of the garden takes your eye to the pool & pool house. The backyard also features an upper bluestone patio with an elegant white pergola, along with a lower bluestone patio, poolside area, and side yard.
