Grillo Outdoor Kitchens
Samuel Moore, owner of Consilium Hortus, is renowned for creating beautiful, bespoke outdoor spaces which are designed specifically to meet his client’s tastes. Taking inspiration from landscapes, architecture, art, design and nature, Samuel meets briefs and creates stunning projects in gardens and spaces of all sizes.
This recent project in Colchester, Essex, had a brief to create a fully equipped outdoor entertaining area. With a desire for an extension of their home, Samuel has created a space that can be enjoyed throughout the seasons.
A louvered pergola covers the full length of the back of the house. Despite being a permanent structural cover, the roof, which can turn 160 degrees, enables the sun to be chased as it moves throughout the day. Heaters and lights have been incorporated for those colder months, so those chillier days and evenings can still be spent outdoors. The slatted feature wall, not only matches the extended outdoor table but also provides a backdrop for the Outdoor Kitchen drawing out its Iroko Hardwood details.
For a couple who love to entertain, it was obvious that a trio of cooking appliances needed to be incorporated into the outdoor kitchen design. Featuring our Gusto, the Bull BBQ and the Deli Vita Pizza Oven, the pair and their guests are spoilt for choice when it comes to alfresco dining. The addition of our single outdoor fridge also ensures that glasses are never empty, whatever the tipple.

ONLYCHILD STUDIO
Interior design of six apartments in a central London Edwardian townhouse conversion for boutique hotel company, Cuckooz.
The overall design took inspiration from the culturally-rich local area, encompassing some historically significant antiquities from the British Museum, curiosities from some of the other local museums, a nod to the infamous Gin Lane as well as the famous lion and unicorn clad spire of St George's Church (that can be seen through the rear windows of the property).
Highlights of the project were creating six bespoke textile prints for soft furnishings, artwork produced by hand for art prints as well as designing and printing a 52 page coffee table book for each apartment's living space.
Creating a feeling of consistency throughout the property was important to the project, using variations of the same colour palette created a fluid connectivity whilst also allowing each space to feel unique. The custom designed velvet headboards and specially sourced furniture and decor items also gave the project a strong sense of individuality.

This project was for the creation of an additional floor at second floor level of an end-of-terrace corner property in Crouch End, north London.
The new roof including a large dormer extension was built off-site, to provide an additional one-bedroom flat, but with the flexibility to act as an extension to the first floor flat until such time as the owners decide to separate the two flats in accordance with their family's needs.
The new structure, external envelope, roof finishes and internal partitions and fixtures were built off-site using modular construction, to minimise the on-site disruption to the family, and was transported to site in four modules and fitted in place within a single day.
The dormer extension is contemporary in style and takes full advantage of the westerly high-level views to the Highgate and Muswell Hill hills through glazed slots and sliding doors that provide access to a roof terrace with 360° views to the surrounding hills.
The roof extension echoes the existing, older, first floor kitchen extension in its openness to the garden and views beyond and the lightness of its construction. The contemporary design contrasts but sits well with the Edwardian character of the original property.
Our services included detailed design and specification of the extension and the fit-out of the interior and full project management and contract administration. Moduloft was the Contractor responsible for the final design and implementation of the pre-fabricated elements.
