How to Add Moulding to Your 3D Floor Plan

Make your 3D plans look fully finished by adding moulding to the walls, including crown moulding, skirting boards, chair rail and picture rail. These details will finalise the look and feel of the space and are fully customisable with any material or finish. You can quickly apply moulding to an entire room, or apply to specific walls as needed. Let's see how:
To start, you will need to create a new floor plan and build out the walls. Read How to Create a 3D Floor Plan and How to Create Accurate Wall Lengths to learn more about getting started.
Once your walls are in place, we recommend switching to Dollhouse mode at the top of your plan to select moulding for your walls.
Add Moulding
To add moulding to a single wall, simply click on the wall in the space. If you want to apply the same moulding to an entire room, click the floor. A new menu on the right side of your screen will appear with the wall properties (or room properties). Click the +Add button in the Moulding section and select a moulding type.
Pro tip: Apply moulding to multiple walls by holding down the Shift key and selecting walls, then choosing the desired moulding.

You will then be able to browse our Moulding Profiles for the moulding type you selected in the right menu. Click a profile to view it on the wall, and customise the height or depth. For picture rails and chair rails, you can also set the distance from the floor. Reset any customisations by clicking Reset in the top right of the moulding settings.

To apply a material or finish to your moulding, like paint, click the Material selector at the button of the moulding customisations. Then you can use the dropdown at the top of the Materials Library on the right to narrow down your options. You'll find popular paint colours by Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore, as well as the ability to select your own colour, wood finish or metal finish. You can use the search bar to quickly search by keyword.

You can apply multiple types of moulding to each wall by using the +Add button in the Moulding section. Once you add more than one type, you will see them all listed and can click to customise or remove them as needed.

Change Moulding
If you already have moulding in place – either from a template or your own design – you can easily change it if needed. Just click on the wall(s), find the Moulding section in the right menu, then click the customise icon next to the moulding you want to change. You can then click Replace to update the profile, or edit the dimensions or material.

Remove Moulding
If you would like to go back to a blank wall with no moulding applied, click directly on the wall within your 3D grid, find the Moulding section in the right menu, then click the trashcan icon to the right of the specific moulding type.
