Tierra Designs Ltd is a RHS award winning garden design and build company based in Hertfordshire. The company is run by Julian Cant and Simon Chasey who strive to create gardens of original beauty using natural materials that will evolve and thrive over time. Whether you have a rural family garden or a small urban courtyard garden, we can help you to create your ideal outdoor space. With years of experience, we will help you through the entire project: from the first designs through to the landscaping and planting. All that's left is for you to enjoy your new garden! Simon Chasey and Julian Cant met while working for a landscape company in West London, it was there that they began making plans for their own design and build company. Having at the time over 12 years of experience in the field it was only a matter of time before 'Landsculpture' as the partnership was then called was put into practice. Within the first year of business 'Landsculpture' teamed up with fellow designer Gill Vaughan to win a Silver Gilt medal awarded by the Royal Horticultural Society for the 'Black and White Garden' featured on BBC Gardeners World Live. Throughout the next 12 years the scope and breadth of works increased along with the workforce. Now based in Leighton Buzzard the company enjoys undertaking projects in London and the surrounding counties.

Our new house came with a large neglected garden, full of huge ferns and invasive weeds. This job required professionals - clear everything, completely redesign and replant the whole garden, include the lawn. We had our own ideas, but Simon's design brought it to the next level. I did not doubt for one moment, during this months' long project, that I got the right men for the job. From start to finish, everything went swimmingly, without any trouble or delays, they stuck to the budget and most importantly, the final product was simply perfect. This review is long overdue, but perhaps that's a good thing, because looking at my stunning garden two years later, I can see the garden I've always wanted.

We had removed some dying leylandii which, whilst ugly, did provide us with complete privacy from my neighbours’ drive and those approaching from the uphill side of our house. Our spec to Jules and Simon was to fill the void and return the privacy as quickly as possible using, preferably, Portuguese laurel as the replacement hedge. We looked to their inspiration to provide appropriate plants of variety and colour in the bed between the new hedge and the lawn. The first site visit to produce a plan was 20.9.2018 and the work was completed on budget on 19.12.2018. It’s only 11 months since planting was finished and we are delighted with the outcome in such a short time.

We were delighted with Terra Designs’ transformation of a drab back garden into a stunning space that we can both care for and relax in. Jules and Simon really understood what we wanted and came up with a design we would never have dreamt of despite having to deal with a long steep set of steps to access the garden which prevented the use of mechanical diggers. The team that did the work were great and worked so hard in sometimes very hot and sometimes very wet weather. They were polite, respectful and obviously enjoy their work which included manually moving about 15 tons of topsoil and heavy steel features down the steps. They never complained and nothing was too difficult. Whilst the hard landscaping was impressive, the planting was even better. Working to what we said we liked within the confines of what aspect, light and soil type we have they produced a fantastic choice and layout finished off with lighting and irrigation. We would highly recommend them.

We employed Tierra to transform our small back garden from an uninspired, unloved and kid-unfriendly garden to one that could be enjoyed by the entire family. They expertly planned and designed the transformation based on our requirements and with their own suggestions (e.g. a living roof on the shed and low maintenance, hardy plants), then carefully completed the work over a 2 week period. We were (and still are 3 years later) very happy with the work and really enjoy being in the garden since it was transformed. Highly recommended.

Excellent design and accommodating of custom requests. Both Simon and Jules transformed our small garden into a truly functional oasis. I am a very particular customer, but they worked with me every step of the way. They incorporated several functional elements into the design to conceal bins, create seating in the space with the most sun which we had not considered on our own. They also helped select low maintenance plants that work well in our mostly shady space. Over a year after completion we are still over the moon with the result. Before and after photos attached.

We employed Tierra Designs Ltd to transform our murky disused 1960's swimming pool into a natural swimming pool. It was a daunting task as the pool had not been used for 25 years! We met with Simon and Julian and they came up with a clear and transparent plan with costings, taking into account every detail and step required. Once agreed, the start date was set and this was adhered to. Every member of the team was competent and they were always polite and easy to talk to. They were a pleasure to have around and we were always kept informed as to what was happening. They will all be invited to the pool opening party. Tierra always turned up when they said they would. Simon and Julian are very knowledgeable on planting, landscaping and design and took on this challenge. The first reaction of every person that has seen the pool completed is 'Wow'. The team (Pete, Dan, Lewis, Dave and Adam) always left the site tidy despite the wet clay mud. We would not hesitate to recommend Tierra Designs Ltd and would use them again.

These guys are good. A very good assessment of the needs, they listened carefully to what I wanted to achieve and the budget I had. The build was done over Christmas and the New Year with breaks for festivities, and they took great care to protect the house where access was required, and the results were brilliant. Worth paying for the quality.

Highly recommend the Tierra Team. We contacted Tierra to help with our garden design as they are a local based company. We had some ideas ourselves but Jules and Simon were able to provide their expertise and knowledge to make the overall design, decking and planting more interesting and colourful. They provided a timescale, costing for the job and were open to us changing and adding in bits throughout to suit our budget. Adam and Dan did the garden project and were true perfectionists in every detail. Their quality of workmanship is without fault. A great team who will transform your garden into a beautiful one no matter how big or small your project.

Simon and Jules designed a plan and created a patio and planted areas for our rear and front gardens. They were a delight to deal with as was every one of the lovely guys who work for them (one of them even specifically popped back from another job to look after my dog!!). Everyone involved in the project worked professionally, tidily and efficiently. I would not hesitate to recommend them. Our garden will take a couple of years to mature and I'm looking forward to watching it develop.

We hired Tierra to do all the planting that we had agreed with our garden designer Declan Buckley. This included a full planting scheme for our newly landscaped rear garden, including installing 7 trees and for the front, which had been paved over for 40 years. From start to finish the whole team were professional, timely, organised and knowledgeable. We expected nothing less, as they had been recommended by Declan.
