Over the past few years we have been building a house on Texada Island, BC. We had to take some Douglas Fir down and decided to use the lovely wood for our exterior doors. We discovered Jim at a home fair and were impressed with his creativity. The doors that he carved are both unique and have made the house very special. Jim was a pleasure to work with and he had the job done in under 10 days.

Jim's experience, understanding and knowledge of his craft was immediately apparent to me during our first phone conversations. I needed a very unique piece for a retail space I was designing and nothing in his standard line up of products was quite right, so without a second to think about it he suggested we design the material around our desired look. He was brilliant in the process of arriving at just the right look, texture, color and finish. When I wanted to tweak it yet again, he was so pleasant and willing to do whatever it took to get it perfect. I really appreciated working with such a creative artisan who not only brought my ideas to life, but was willing to contribute valuable ideas on construction details as well. By the end of the project when we finally met in person, I wanted to hug him! He stayed in the promised budget, and made me look like a hero to the client. I will always consider bringing Jim and his beautiful textured millwork into my future projects.

Jim Barker provide us with adzed cedar panels for an art headboard at the Skwachays Lodge, a unique First Nations Art Hotel. Jim was professional and had everything we needed done on time....a real pleasure to work with!

Jim is a very creative and talented individual. He has used his particular knowledge of CNC techniques to produce components for us on several occasions. Each time the result was perfect- he takes his time to understand what it is you're after and delivers.
