Alison Wear Garden Design

Alison is a fantastic garden designer. She has helped us with various projects - initially giving us invaluable advice and then supervising all the design and planting of our fairly sizeable garden (which was an absolute wreck)! Thanks to her imagination and inspiration she has provided a really special place - we even open it to the public in aid of charity! She's also helped a lot of our friends with their outdoor space - all of whom are equally delighted. We couldn't praise her higher.

Alison came to see the garden in 2009 for me to hear her ideas. As a result of that visit, I engaged her to redesign the garden completely and to supervise the project to implement the design. This included the drawings, the specification, the planning permission (for raised decking), identifying potential contractors, interviewing and appointing contractor, supervising the work over many months. She did an excellent job and was very committed, reliable and engaged with everything. Since then, the garden has matured and developed with regular visits by Alison and fresh ideas being implemented. The result has been so amazing that the garden was featured in the Private View section of The English Garden in their July 2014 edition, with photographs by Marianne Majerus. I cannot recommend Alison too highly; she is a delightful, easy and down to earth individual and clearly loves her work.

Alison provided a redesign of our front garden to include new wall, railings, gates, driveway and path plus new planting covering a larger than average area. This was completed at the beginning of the summer and the whole garden has blossomed and looks amazing. The service Alison provided was faultless and she was constantly in touch to discuss the job as it progressed. Highly recommend her services - pleasure to deal with.

Our garden is now in its third summer PA (post Alison) and it continues to reveal new treasures as the seasons evolve and the plants mature. The many focal points and changing seasonal colours and plants of interest really show what a difference a professional like Alison can make. Alison genuinely listened to our wants/don't wants, likes/dislikes and the different needs of our family members and using her near-encyclopaedic knowledge of plants, design skills, project oversight and quality sourcing created far more of an interesting and enjoyable garden than we thought possible when we bought our house. We would highly recommend this passionate professional.

I was not the easiest client as I only had vague ideas of what I wanted, yet Alison was supremely patient and gently elicited preferences which she ensured were incorporated into a final design. She transformed a square patch of grass with two straight borders into a sophisticated garden with a central asymetrical path. This has been enhanced with a planting plan that ensures you are drawn into the garden to enjoy a blend of texture, colour and interest; it makes you want to daly and sit to regain a sense of equilibrium, after the hectic urban life. Alison's expertise in design, plants and sense of colour, as well as her network of the finest specialists, has ensured a garden that is natural, inviting and endlessly fascinating. Her professionalism, attention to detail and always having an answer to perceived problem has ensured that there are no problems. The result is a garden that enhances the house and is a pleasure to sit in and to enjoy.

Alison planned a total re landscaping of both my front garden and rear garden and pool area. An old tired plot looks rejuvenated and everyone loves using it - a very professional approach, nothing was too much trouble. Alison's skills complimented those of the landscaping team. It was wonderful having someone who interpreted what we wanted and the finished item really is wonderful.
