Archadeck of Central South Carolina

I have had a very disappointing experience with Archadeck of Central South Carolina. I am in the process of surprising my mom with a sunroom addition on her home. Mother’s Day is coming up and I thought this would be a wonderful surprise. I did my research and read all the glowing five star reviews. I was giddy and excited to begin. My mom (unaware it would be a gift) called and scheduled an appointment. She conferences me in on the appointment. We were working with Bess Schmidt. She agreed to email us both a proposal. Well several weeks went by and we didn’t hear from her. My mom calls three weeks after the initial meeting and Bess emails us back with typed number scenarios. When I asked for an actual proposal with a sketch of what the project would look like, I was addressed unprofessionally in an email as “hey” in order to receive a quote with a 3D drawing I would need to pay a non refundable fee of $500. If we choose to proceed the money would go towards a project. I emailed her back to say I’ve never heard of doing business this way. You haven’t shown me any possibilities on what your company could potentially provide and what it would look like. This should be a part of the sales presentation. Please “sell” me a sunroom from your company. The response I received back was best of luck to you. (Signed: Sent from iPhone). It was clear from the beginning that she wasn’t really interested in our business or helping us with this project. From us having to contact her for a proposal, there was no follow up, and there was no sales presentation offered to us without a retainer fee of $500. Why would I trust to retain you when you haven’t shown me any reason during the process that you even want me to retain you? Needless to say I’m so disappointed to have been treated this way.

Arrived promptly for the initial appointment and estimate. Work was completed in a professional and efficient manner. Price was reasonable. This is the second time we have had them do work for us, and would recommend them 100%

Archadeck just built me a screen porch. i had in mind exactly what i wanted. 6x6 posts & a metal roof. (metal roof to hear the rain) 15x16 screen porch. it was going on a 1920's craftsman bungalow in a downtown neighborhood and needed to honor the house, the neighborhood, and the era. many companies came to take a look, a bunch of them said they flat out couldn't do what i wanted. some wanted to do aluminum construction. (would not have honored the house). and all of them wanted too much $$ to do the work. that told me they didn't want to do the work. then bess schmidt showed up from Archadeck. when i told her what i wanted and winced before her response sure that yet another company would say no way or way too much $$ her response was 'we can do that'. let me put together an estimate for you. boom. within a few days the estimate came back. i could afford it, and they built it. they did some sensitive things i didn't even think of. i really really liked working with these folks. if they're in your area and you need some outdoor construction done you should talk with them. not only do they do quality work at a fair price they're big fun to deal with. contact me if you want to see pictures. sclgeographer@gmail.com

We had Archadeck build a screened porch for us recently and we couldn't be happier! This was a complicated project in part because we live in a historic district in downtown Columbia, SC. The entire team at Archadeck worked hard to make sure that we had a project that not only we were happy with, but that the city was happy with, too. It took awhile for us all to agree on what the project would look like. I was amazed at how patient Archadeck was as my husband and I went back and forth trying to figure out what we really wanted. My husband is a fairly skilled carpenter and we wondered how Archadeck would respond to his ideas, suggestions, etc. The communication was better than either one of us expected. It really felt like we were in partnership together on this project. Here's just one example. The porch sits on a number of posts that were to be wrapped in brick. Lowell (our project manager) wasn't content to just use a standard color brick. He was determined to find a brick that would be a close match to our brick house--bricks that were made in 1923! Every morning when I sit out on the porch with my morning coffee, I am amazed that we have this beautiful screened porch. It is both beautiful and functional!
