About Ashwood Designs & Custom Homes We are a family-run, design/build company located in the heart of Houston. We are passionate about creating living spaces with meaning. Ashwood Designs & Custom Homes believes in its ability to maximize the quality of our clients' experience through the development of unparalleled living spaces. We cherish the relationships with our clients and find much success collaborating through open communication and honesty. Ashwood Designs & Custom Homes grew out of a lifelong passion for art and the gratification of building with your own hands. Our founder, Ross Huthmacher was first exposed to home improvement projects as a kid with his father, he then progressed to full-scale remodeling projects after the purchase of his first home in 2004. Over the course of the next seven years, Ross combined his business education, entrepreneurial spirit and remodeling experience to execute projects that are both functional and beautiful at one of Houston’s top remodeling firms. In 2011, Ross founded Ashwood Designs & Custom Homes. Specializing in large remodeling projects and new construction, he truly enjoys collaborating with our clients to design and plan their new home and/or remodel. Ross utilizes CGI 3D design technology to bring to life our clients' dream living spaces, providing the visual that encourages honest and creative communication before construction begins. Our Team Working with a family-run company means all team members are engaged on the project, interact with the client and truly understand their independent goals for their home. Ross works with all clients during the design process and throughout the project with the support of his team. Ross’s wife, Jennifer is our Office Manager and keeps our operations on track by managing everything from billing to marketing to vendor relations. Ross’ father-in law, Jim is our Project Manager and brings a wealth of experience to help ensure the day-to-day operations are on track for your project. Our Selections Manager, Carrie is a family friend and helps guide clients through the selections process. Don’t be surprised if you happen to see our teenagers delivering materials to your home or helping with tasks – we like to start them young!

We highly recommend Ashwood Designs & Custom Homes!! They came to our rescue after the Texas freeze of 2021. Many builders and remodelers were super busy with so many damaged homes from broken pipes and Covid was still an issue. In our case, we had to gut our master bedroom and bathroom. Ross responded quickly and was helpful in working with the insurance company, in listening to our needs and what we were really impressed with was him and his team using their experience and design ideas to help transform our master suite into a cozy spa like retreat. Ross, Jennifer and their workers were always pleasant and super easy to work with and their quality of work and attention to detail was exceptional. We'll definitely be calling them back when we are ready for that kitchen remodel next!!

We were extremely pleased by the recent remodel to our home! Ashwood Designs and Custom Homes was extremely professional, easy to work with, and made a beautiful vision come to life. They developed extremely detailed plans and provided regular updates, which kept us informed of their progress throughout the project. Even during the situation with the unfolding pandemic and the impact to the city, we continued as planned without delay. Additionally, as we neared the end of the project and were panicked about minor bumps or concerns, they did a fantastic job of ensuring that issues were resolved quickly and to our satisfaction. I recommend them not only for their design ideas, quality and workmanship, but even more for their professionalism and attention to detail.

Ashwood designed and built our beautiful custom home in Meyerland . Ross was able to capture what we wanted exactly on the design. The workmanship is truly beautiful . We started after Harvey, so it was a little slow, but it was definitely worth the wait . The people he has working for him in the office have been great. They continue to take my calls after the build , which is very important! We finished our home in 2019! It really is our dream house !

Ashwood Designs & Custom Homes

We hired Ashwood Designs in 2018 to update our home, which was built in 2000. We relocated a fireplace to create a more inviting living room, replaced all tile flooring with hardwood and updated countertops and paint throughout. The project managers had a great relationship with the on-site trades which enabled our project to progress fluidly and on schedule. I appreciated the weekly updates so I understood what to expect at my house each week. I also appreciated the open communication with Ross and the entire team as my expectations were managed. The quality of craftmanship was superb and I would definitely hire Ashwood Designs for future work!
