Very surprised, & disappointed about all not being a , Like she did all "5" on Angie's List!. Did all work within her budget,some things cost more than her budget allowed.Such as not being able to use pre-finished wood that I selected as an option which cost twice as much vs using luxury vinyl. Showed and suggested using same luxury vinyl floors that I did in their finished basement, nice flow, & continuity, more solid looking, & not a lot of pattern variation, not busy looking. Transitional look. They selected a different option from my samples.There was Tremendous savings by me suggesting and not just doing new custom made doors & drawers vs the cost of a brand new kitchen. She kept all of her appliances. We didn't move her wall oven to another wall, the cost would be a lot of construction, & venting to the roof- need another contractor for that as per my cabinet guy(not me, I don't do that) the cost was exorbitant, and not in her budget.All materials, National Brand Names."She only wanted Quartz countertops" vs granite or marble which costs considerably more, so of course they cost more, and that's what we used. I showed her all of the options.She wanted white cabinetry, her husband wanted dark grey.She likes Traditional style & beige's,he likes Modern/Contemporary style & he likes greys. She compromised & let him have the cabinetry grey & the kitchen & dining room with grey walls & the rest of the first floor in her beige colors.She changed her mind about the paint color, the beige's when we finished painting the living room & foyer, and we re- painted it, in the color that she wanted- beige tones,we did not charge her to repaint for the labor, & we did not charge her for the paint.I had suggested a simple subway tile, solid color for the kitchen backsplash, for a clean simple look, to go well with her quartz countertops & dark grey cabinets. She changed it to a stone looking one, with a lot of texture and busy looking,that she saw in a picture. And when we were finished, the only complaint that I ever heard, was "that she isn't sure if she likes the backsplash, she said maybe it will grow on her". I told her that we can change it, but you would have to pay for it. New tile, & to be installed. She said no, she'll get used to it.I met with her & her husband several time in the evenings & Saturday's, so she wouldn't have to leave work early.We scheduled everything with her throughout the entire job, verifying with her & her husbands schedule. He worked at home. We didn't have a key, & needed to be let in every single time. My sub's had to start the job late several times if her husband had to drive their son to school, or had his video meetings, so we couldn't be there, until he was finished.We social distend from both of them, if she was home sick, & also near her husband with some health issues, as she asked us too.She changed the kitchen cabinet hardware to black instead of silver, which I told her will make everything look darker as she was always wanting everything to be on the lighter side, lighter colors.As well what I had selected for her for light fixtures, which wasn't in her budget to do at this time.I never charged her for the countless hours that I was there, nor for while I checking on the job.She did the wrought iron staircase that she wanted a few months later because it wasn't in her budget.I have not been contacted not one single time, not by phone call, not by text message, not by email, not once by them telling me that they had any problem whatsoever about me, or my materials, nor my sub contractors, to this day.I remodeled their finished basement first, then the deck, stairs and a new screened in porch, and patio, then the entire upstairs. Therefore, I don't agree with their ratings, it should all be a "5'".
