Cult Design was founded 2001. Marita Lord is our designer and one of the founders. All designs and creative work is done in Gothenburg, Sweden. Sometimes Marita also cooperate with freelance designers. The design is Scandinavian simplicity. We like modular concepts where the consumer can mix and match themselves. Therefore, you can find many geometric shapes in our range of products. Squares, circles, triangles and from 2014 also hexagon shapes. Combine and have fun! Ceramics is our base material and we love it. Stoneware, thin porcelain, terracotta and earthenware. There is a lot of decoration possibilities with different glazes and it is interesting to make experiments. The knowledge of ceramics is in China, so we produce there. We work very close to a few factories in Guangdong province of China. The production is handcraft. The sculptor makes a sculpture after the drawing made from Marita. When it is approved mould are made, after that casting, firening, glazing or hand paint and firening again. So many hands are involved in one product. We have counted 44 pair of hands…. before the product meets the end consumer. Our designer Marita is visiting the factories 2 times per year for developing. We care about the factory environment and she always have chance to see how the situation for the workers is. You need to pay a little extra for better situation for the people. We produce our soaps and candles in Sweden, some metal and wood products in Vietnam, textile in Portugal, some concrete pots in China. Office and design studio is in the center of Gothenburg, Sweden. You are always welcome to visit us!
