About Us

Cynthia Hayes has been designing residential interiors for over 20 years. After graduating with a BA in Fine Arts from the University of Vermont, Cindy worked in the advertising field while continuing her studies in the Interior Design Program at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD.)In 1997 she joined the design team at Leonard’s Antiques the well-known and premier source of antique beds and high end reproduction furnishings. In 2010, Cindy started Cynthia Hayes Interior Design specializing in residential interiors, best described as classic, fresh and timeless. Her work can be characterized by clean and uncluttered solutions combined with beautiful and comfortable furnishings. Cindy works with highly qualified professionals and expert craftsmen and has a support staff for any size design project. She develops strong professional relationships and has been working with many of her clients for 10-15 years. Her work includes projects in Rhode Island, New York, Vermont, Massachusetts and Florida. In addition, Cindy has strong ties and a love for Nantucket island where she has worked on many wonderful design projects.

I have worked with Cindy for many years and love her creativity, solid design skills and her "can do" attitude. She has done many projects for me - two Adirondack houses that have a very specific rustic style, and my suburban home, which is more traditional. In all cases she found just the perfect fabrics, custom rugs, lamps and furniture. She has also worked with my daughter, who had a much lower budget than mine. Cindy brought together beautiful things at a much lower price point. Cindy is respectful, a good listener, and delightful to work with.

I have worked with Cindy on numerous Nantucket projects and have always been impressed by her great eye, attention to detail, and willingness to go the extra mile for her clients. Her team has completed numerous spec house projects that require furnishing down to the last piece of silverware (and on a strict budget). In addition to the spec house projects, Cindy has collaborated on the design of high-end vacation homes. She is great at adapting the interior design of a home to make it appropriate for the location, while keeping her client’s wishes in mind. Her team has the ability to coordinate the entire delivery and installation process seemingly effortlessly - a process that can be more than daunting on an island. The end result of Cindy’s projects (typically classic and serene) have always exceeded my expectations and left the client very happy.

Cynthia was the interior decorator I used when we built a summer house and needed to furnish it from top to bottom. She continues to help me with refurbishment in this same house. She is a pleasure to work with and has a wonderful "eye" for decorating concepts. She is also a very good listener and found fabrics and styles that truly reflected our family's' taste and worked well at being cost conscious and respecting our budget.

Commented: Your work is terrific, Are these medicine cabinets?These are Restoration Hardware - the Classic mirror in polished nickel. But Robern is a nice modern, clean medicine cabinet.
