Headed up by Derek Caplen, our staff are very proud to offer extensive knowledge and exceptional customer service. As the founder of Dee Cee Upholstery & Interiors, Derek boasts several decades of experience in the industry. His career began as an apprentice at the age of 15 and after running a small upholstery workshop for 18 months, he founded Dee Cee Upholstery. At just 21, he became the youngest member in the UK to join the Association of Master Upholsterers and Soft Furnishers (AMU&SF) and more recently, has been elected to become the youngest fellow of the AMU for services to the trade. He now actively serves on the board of directors. Throughout his career, he has won national awards for Design, Comfort and Originality. He has designed his own range of upholstery and produced several commemorative football shirt chairs for local events. Derek’s wealth of knowledge has led him to contribute to many publications and give presentations on his craft. He also advises professionals and organisations on healthcare chairs, including Southampton’s Primary Care Trust and Occupational Therapists. As a specialist in the art of traditional upholstery and antique restoration, his emphasis has always been on delivering exceptional quality and service.
