About Us

Following the renovations and designs of her own home in northern New Jersey, interior design expert Phyllis Freed began receiving requests from friends who needed help on their own home projects. It became very clear she was easily able to intuitively interpret and create a vision, and soon after followed her own vision by establishing Freed & Company, LLC in 1993. Phyllis custom tailors both interior and exterior spaces, from consultation to design inception until final project completion. Rather than promoting a trendy or signature style, attention and detail is given to creating timeless and budget-conscious home environments while incorporating comfort, livability and individuality. Phyllis’ most unique talent is her use of accessories, or “the jewellery that adorns the home,” to inject personal character and flair. At Freed & Company, we believe your home is your greatest asset. When you work with us, the value of your investment is priceless. Our Philosophy: Mutual Respect must be established on a consistent basis The Art of Listening is given priority over Speaking in order to conceptualize our Clients Needs and Requirements.

I worked with Phyllis for two years on the design and decorating of our new home. Her dedication, talent, enthusiasm and energy is inspiring. The result is a home that is beautiful, comfortable, peaceful and totally livable. Phyllis got to know us,and truly interpreted our wishes in the most wonderful way. She absolutely gets my highest recommendation.

I used Freed & Company to decorate my home in Sarasota, Florida, and was extremely pleased with the final product. Phyllis Freed is a pleasure to work with. She is respectful, hardworking, and has a wonderful eye for detail. Most important, she listens. I came with a lot of furniture from up north, and Phyllis managed to intermingle the old with the new beautifully. Everyone who walks into my home for the first time comments on the use of color, space and art to create an energizing atmosphere. My home is a happy home. It puts a smile on peoples' faces. That was my goal from the onset of this project. I would highly recommend Freed & Company

She has an extremely keen eye and a discriminating taste level that sets her apart from her peers. Phyllis Freed is a pleasure to work with. She listens to the client and designs to suit their personal style and comfort level while infusing her design sense. I used her for several projects and I am still very happy with all of them. My friends all love the work she has done in my house too! She is patient, knowledgeable and her follow through from start to finish is outstanding. She really takes each project seriously-no matter how big or small. I highly recommend Phyllis!

I chose the five star rating as after having worked with Phyllis on design projects I could not believe how incredibly talented she is! Not only does she listen to what her clients want but puts together the most beautiful rooms and homes with an incredible amount of thought and time spent on each and every project!! The best part after all is finished, you usually stay in touch with her as a friend because she has such a charismatic personality!! I would not recommend any other designer, she truly is a professional with a fabulous eye for design!!

I have known Phyllis for the past 20 Years and have been providing her with Wallcoverings, Broadlooms and Fabrics for her Clients. We collaborate on a level of highly creative, knowledgeable and talented energies. Our success shows as I have become her exclusive wallcovering source. She and I always have the best and most fun times, and typically work in to the late, late, late hours of the evening... dinners are, most of the time, inclusive. Infact, I keep a candy bowl close by to energize my designers, of which, Phyllis, is my best consummer!!!!! Its undeniable that we create some of our most magical rooms...could it be the chocolate kisses???? More importantly, Phyllis approaches her business with extreme passion and her whole heart and soul. I can testify that with Phyllis at the helm you can be sure she values your home just as much as you do. I first used Freed & Company in June 2000 to design my family room and have since used Phyllis to do my dining room and paint selections for all rooms in my home. Phyllis has an amazing eye for color and texture and chose furniture, fabrics and accessories that reflected my taste with her professional input. She listened and cared about what I wanted in a room and for what purpose the room would be used. She puts her heart into all she does and really wants you to be happy with the end project. She doesn't settle until she finds exactly the right piece, color, material she is looking for. My family room is the center of my home and she designed it with that in mind. My 15 year-old couches are still incredibly comfortable! I would highly recommend Phyllis for any project, big or small, inside or outside.
