Distinctive Building Group

We had an excellent experience working with Distinctive Building Group from planning throughout execution of our kitchen remodel. We have a general store built in 1890 in which we wanted to embrace the character of (most notably very high ceilings and perfectly worn and stained wood floors from years of customer traffic) while having all the modern conveniences. They listened to our desires and concerns and guided us through the planning process allowing the construction phase to run smoothly. David, Matt and their foreman Corey were very responsive when questions came up throughout the project. Our kitchen renovation was completed on-time and on-budget! We are thrilled with our new kitchen and have recommended Distinctive Building Group to many friends who are considering projects in their own homes.

I have been using DBG for the full renovation of my Ocean City MD ocean front condo. This was a full “gut job” so that basically built it from scratch. I am a SUPER particular person and I want things the way I want them, even if it’s slightly eccentric or irrational. I can say that David and Matt and their project manager Corey have been amazing. Helping us from design all the way to install. They helped me when we needed help, suggesting things when we didn’t know what we wanted, and kept quiet and said “ok we’ll make it happen” when they knew I was determined to have something “crazy”! I’m visiting the project NOW as I type this and they’re finishing up and cleaning up and the place looks AWESOME! COULD NOT BE HAPPIER with DBG and would HIGHLY recommend them!!

I had an original (1999) kitchen and master bath in my Northern Virginia townhome. I moved here a year ago and decided in that time that I wanted an update. I had heard of DBG when I first moved here so called them to discuss. From the initial meeting, to the actual design and implementation, DBG could not have been any better. David, the designer, was professional, respectful and appreciated what I was trying to accomplish. He stayed within my budget and completed before it was promised. He guided me as to where it was important to spend a little extra for quality and where it didn't matter so much. DBG has excellent relationships with suppliers and the turnaround time of choosing to installation is amazing. For example, i choose a stone for my master bath vanity on a Tuesday, it was measured on Wednesday and installed on Thursday. We choose the cabinetry and ordered in time for me to get started at my desired start-date. In fact, the entire installation of both the master bath and the kitchen, from demo to full completion (punch-list and all), was just a few days over 3 weeks, with the bulk of it done in two. I scheduled it for when I was away and I highly recommend. I came home after two weeks, most was done and I was only inconvenienced a week. While I was away, the contractors treated my home with care and respect. Everything was draped and when the cleaners came after it was all complete, there was not much for them to clean! DBG has its own subs so there is never any downtime. The entire process was 'flawless'-hardly a word associated with remodel! I highly highly recommend!

I have been a kitchen designer for over 13 years and have to say these guys are the best. With Distinctive things get done and clients stay happy. We have worked on some beautiful jobs together with their clients and their goal is to create a job WITH the client, not just tell them what they want. A gem in our industry!

David Kay, Matt and Distinctive Building Group were fantastic. We recently contracted with them to remodel our home and they completed the job on budget and on time. They also provided major help in the overall design and provided creative solutions to many different tricky situations. I always felt they had my best interest at hand and that making me happy with the project was the most important thing. From start to finish, DBG was involved and had great suggestions when I was unsure of what I wanted to accomplish with my kitchen and first floor remodel. They worked with my budget and the outcome was fabulous! All of their employees were extremely professional and worked hard to get my project done on time even when the flooring arrived later than expected (which was no fault of DBG). We are beyond thrilled with the results of our lower level renovation. David has such great ideas and only uses quality products. We had put off this project because historically contractors were not on time and disruptive. DBG's workers were so professional and polite and hardworking. To quote my daughter "They are so nice and not creepy". They arrived and left at the same time everyday and always cleaned up. I highly recommend this company!

DBG provided two services to me over the last twelve months. The first was the renovation of my company's lobby and kitchen areas. The second was the creation of a patio space at my home in my backyard. DBG was professional in my dealings with them. They completed the work on time and on budget. Assigned project manager was responsive to any concerns that I had. Both projects turned out beautifully. I found them to be competitively priced and easy to deal with. I would recommend them and hire them again for future house or company projects. Office Work involved polished concrete; tearing down existing walls; putting up reclaimed wood walls in lobby area; installing new kitchen cabinets; painting. Home work involved clearing backyard of debris and overrun plants; stamped concrete patio; replacing fence; creating new concrete sidewalk from driveway to patio; adding full screens; power washing house
