Finesse Design Studio, LLC.

We are extremely disappointed with the performance of Ms. Karen Bevensee dba Finesse Design Studio. Our relationship with her proved to be nothing more than a complete waste of 8 months of our time and, potentially, $5,000. Our initial telephone contact on August 19, 2022, seemed promising, but it became clear over the months that, while Ms. Bevensee held herself and her self-proclaimed expertise in very high regard, the reality is that she possesses very little knowledge of the construction industry, job cost estimating or how to coordinate even the simplest of remodels. (I would know, having, myself, been raised in the construction industry, having owned a prominent real estate development and contracting company, and possessing multiple contractor’s licenses for many years.) The quality of work delivered by Karen Bevensee was, to be generous, subpar, and unimpressive. The drawings which she provided looked as though they had been drawn by a child, lacking the sophistication and attention to detail one would expect from a professional designer, especially since she’d had 7 months to prepare them. In that time, she failed to deliver any data-driven cost budget, let alone any quotes for the work from actual contractors. Excuses should be her advertised expertise as she is extremely liberal with their use. Following notification of our intent to terminate our Agreement, it took 5 additional emails over the course of a month before Ms. Bevensee replied. In a nonsensical and threat-laden email, not only did she state her unequivocal refusal to refund any portion of the (unused) retainer but that she would be sending a bill for a “balance due”. To date, we’ve yet to receive said bill but that is no surprise as it took multiple requests over months for her to deliver even an agreement. Likewise, I needed to make multiple requests before she delivered (illegible) hand-written billing statements, months in arrears. Overall, our experience with Finesse Design Studio and Karen Bevensee has been an unmitigated disaster. From unprofessionalism to unmet promises, poor communication, and refusal to provide a refund, this designer has proven to be highly unreliable and unworthy of trust. I would strongly advise anyone considering working with Finesse Design Studio to reconsider and find a more reputable and competent designer who respects their clients and delivers on their promises.

Karen Bevensee of Finesse Design helped me with a new home building project: flooring, countertops, fixtures, paint, furnishings. I highly recommend her and here’s why: 1. She has the intuitive ability to connect with clients and understand their tastes and needs; she listens and does not try to force her opinions on clients. 2. She adheres to the highest professional standards in all aspects of design services. 3. She has terrific follow through and is meticulous in everything from selection of materials to billing. 4. You can count on her, without reservation, to do what she says she will do. 5. She is fair and transparent in all aspects of her business. 6. Lastly, she is congenial and lots of fun to work with!

I have worked with many interior decorators over the years and Karen is one of the best. She is the ultimate professional. She actually listens to the clients vision for their homes. Karen has a rolodex of professional installers, painters, upholsterers, and all the suppliers of fabrics, carpets and lamps. I give her a five star rating.

Karen thinks very highly of herself. We could not get comfortable that she could reasonably satisfy our desires. Even though her literature insists there be a signed agreement before she will proceed, she sent us a bill for design service. That's when we knew we needed to find another designer. We did, and are happy with the results.

I reached out to Karen through Houzz and she promptly return my email. It took us less time than I expected to schedule at home consultation and measurements. The proposal with a scope of work and detailes for estimated cost came a few days later. I haven't finished this project yet but with definitely go Finesse Design Studio.

We have known Karen for over 15 years. In those years she has help build, remodel or decorate 8 of our business sites And 3 different houses over two states. Each one is decorated in detail to the area it is located in. Karen has a great eye for color and takes her time to know you and what your tastes are. She is always conscious of your budget and works hard to find value in your price range. I would recommend her for any project.

Karen has assisted us with updating a former rental into our forever home. We converted a 2 car garage into fully functional living space. Now we preparing to modify 3 rooms, including the kitchen, the dining room, and the master bedroom. Karen’s consulting has included material selection, design development, and construction management.

She does everything you need! Which was exactly what we wanted with jobs and two year old to fill our time. She is great at getting back to you and answering all your questions. (Also patient)

From the first phone conversation to the initial in-home consultation and beyond, Karen with Finesse Design Studio, LLC was friendly, professional, helpful, full of great ideas and extremely patient with someone who had never worked with a design firm before. She responded and worked to finish everything in a timely fashion. She made sure no questions were left unanswered and her services were quite reasonably priced. I highly recommend FDS for ANY design job you may need!

Karen helped me pick out rugs and furniture for my new home. She helped me 'get it right' the first time. What a relief, especially with the rugs because it is so hard to know what you are getting and quite a pain to return them when they don't work. But with Karen's help, we got it right. She is very easy to work with and I highly recommend her.

Finesse Design studio was wonderful to work with! Karen is so professional, offering many design ideas that I wouldn't have dreamed of. She's truly a gem and I recommend her to everyone!

For someone that has no clue what to do with their space, Karen worked wonders for making my living room/dining room look and feel exactly how I wanted it to. She was diligent about making sure everything was -perfect- ...right down to the stitch on the pillows I ordered. She opened me up to new colors and furniture I wouldn't have realized worked so well together had I done this alone! I enjoy my home so much now, I can't wait to have my bathroom done this summer!

Karen is professional and enthusiastic She walked me through all phases of paint refreshing of the house as well as furnishings and window coverings. Her experience allowed her to help us find the perfect contractor for each portion of the project. Karen was always available by phone and very prompt with all of her services I recommend her highly

Ms. Bevensee is a most talented designer. For our project, she avidly consulted with us, furnished design ideas that fit our needs completely and was a pleasure to work with. She did an elaborate drapery installation in our bedroom which was superb in all respects. It changed the entire essence of the room. We highly recommend her for any project. Her experience in both residential and commercial projects is extensive.

Karen had great ideas for us. She helped us add the right pieces to our rooms while maintaining our individual style. Having Karen's fresh, candid, and friendly input really helped transformed our living spaces into very usable and updated environments. We loved her work and would recommend her to everyone!
