We would unequivocally recommend Art & Construction LLC. They designed and upgraded our 1960s-era kitchen and made it a pleasure to work and entertain it. Frankie’s design was imaginative and came up with plans that dramatically expanded our counter and storage space without blasting through walls. And Ivan and his crew worked efficiently and navigated confidently through the unexpected minefields that every old house can pose. It was our first kitchen rehab and they were exactly the guides we needed to see the process through.

Ivan and Frankie Stankovic make a very fine team heading up their company, Art and Cement Construction LLC. My husband and I had contemplated a complete renovation of our kitchen for at least 8-10 years. My medical problems had dominated our attention and depleted our energy. We did have our bathrooms renovated six years ago. But the time and effort shopping for vanities, mirrors, tubs, tiles and toilets were completely daunting then. And the difficulties with the contractor are legend. Now six years later, in our very late 70's facing a larger, more complex project seemed overwhelming. An hour before Frankie came to discuss their proposal, my husband and I agreed that we really did not have the energy to go through with a renovation.
But Frankie changed all that.
First, we especially like the way Art and Cement structures its contract. A flat fee for all the labor and materials other than cabinets, appliances, faucet, fan, and tiles and lighting—in essence, all the items we see and use are not included. That left us free to decide how much to spend on them and which particular items to buy.
Second, Frankie emphasized how they finish on time and make special effort to limit dust getting into the rest of the house, Moreover, Ivan has trained all his employees and uses no subcontractors except for the counter tops. And third, they will make everything right so we (and their other customers) are pleased.
And third, we also got Frankie at no extra cost. What she offered was for us the critical, unique element. After discussing with us and looking at photos of kitchens to learn the style we like, she went with us to suppliers of cabinets, appliances, tile, and so forth and helped us narrowed the options to consider. For example, we were able to select tiles for the floor and for the backsplash in less than one hour. In addition, because Frankie brings a lot of Art and Cement customers to those particular suppliers, we were charged the builder's price for all those items. (She would have helped us had we wanted other brands from different suppliers.) Her understanding of what we liked and of the price ranges we were looking for were uncannily accurate. In addition, the dark gray paint for the walls that she recommended accompanied perfectly the tiles and appliances.
But Frankie was only the beginning of our splendid experience.
Ivan and his crew first sealed off our living room and bedrooms with zippered, durable plastic sheets so we could easily enter and leave those areas. Moreover, they sealed 20 large photographs hanging on a wall below our cathedral ceiling and carefully moved our dining room furniture and rugs to one end and sealed them off with more plastic sheeting. The floor itself was protected by large panels designed to protect floors even from trucks. Thus, they made space for storing new cabinets and materials, all of which arrived before construction started. We can not have been more pleased with how carefully they protected our property and conscientiously responded to our concerns about controlling dust. And we have no sense that what they did was especially for us. It is their customary procedure. And what relief knowing that the cabinets and so forth were mostly there before construction even started.
The kitchen was completely sealed off when it was gutted. Everything was rewired, which Ivan deemed necessary given the house's 60 years. Piping was moved from between outside wall joists to space under the sink, and the outside wall was re-insulated entirely. Ivan's crew worked hard and minimized noise and disturbance to us. They labored diligently and carefully, producing quality work. Ivan was eager to install a new lighting system that we wanted and that he was unfamiliar with. He learned what was required, and the lighting gives the kitchen a special appeal. We expect Frankie will now be recommending it to other clients.
Now several other things we especially liked. Ivan used no dumpster. Rather, trash was removed daily from our property except for a very few times near the end when a little pile was removed the next day. Ivan was on site daily and in contact with us. Communicating with us and our communication with Ivan and with Frankie during the project was exemplary. Details of exact location of lights and switches and so forth were worked out ahead of time. Relations between suppliers and both Frankie and Ivan were smooth and never a concern of ours.
To sum up our experience with Art and Cement Construction LLC, it was wonderful. Frankie and Ivan were fun to work with, their employees were friendly, respectful, and hard working. The quality of the work is top notch, and we enjoy it daily. Our kitchen renovation was far easier than we had imagined it could be. And the end product is a lovely, functional kitchen that is a daily pleasure to be in and to use.

It was a pleasure to work with Frankie and Ivan at Art and Cement. They took on the challenge of updating an old, awkward kitchen, and were amazing. They helped with everything from finding appliances for difficult spaces, to selecting paint color. Lots of hand holding along the way! All the work was immaculate and on time.

Art and Cement is an excellent company, with hard working, skilled painters and carpenters to draw on. Their bids are reasonable, they use the best paints and materials, and they clean up the site quite well. This is a company to hire for price, quality, and service. There are none better in my experience. They had a complicated task given our architecturally designed back and side decks. They came through with flying colors.

Ivan and Frankie are fabulous! With a small crew and an eye for perfection, they totally rehabbed our condo from one end to the other! Frankie can figure out what you want and would like even before you can verbalize it. She never pushes, but guides when appropriate. Ivan is a craftsman, working hard to make old condo walls square and cabinets flush. When they say they will do something, they do. Not the least expensive, but you absolutely get what you pay for! I'm not a newbie at this, having had many contractors over the years. In comparison to all of the, I can unqualifiedly say that Art & Cement is nonpareil, heads and shoulders above the rest. If I had other work to be done, I'd use them again without any question or doubt!!

This company stands out among others in the home remodeling industry. It is professional all the way. I hired Art and Cement to make a number of improvements to a house built in the 1930s. The kitchen was in particularly bad shape, and the living room needed a fair amount of ceiling repair. The company made other improvements as well, such as installing two handrails and shoring up cement work in the basement. The company repaired and painted the whole downstairs, a bathroom upstairs and a bedroom. We continued living in the house while the work was being done, and Ivan made sure the day-to-day disruption was kept to a minimum. The workers showed up on time, to the minute every single day. They were courteous and cleaned up the area before leaving each day. Most important of all, the house looks great. The transformation is very impressive.

Thank you so much! You are wonderful to work with!
Kitchen remodeling project - Frankie was very responsive and set our estimate appointment and project schedule. Ivan closely monitored, did part of the work himself and finished on time. We're very happy with our new kitchen and would definitely hire Ivan and Frankie again.

I am a real estate agent and I have hired Art and Cement in many different capacities. They have completed work on my own home, completed work on my listings and I have also referred them to many past clients. Their workmanship is high quality and they have very skilled and trustworthy employees. They always quote fair estimates and stick to their price, but just as important, they stick to the time frame that they promise. If there is ever a glitch with a 3rd party vendor, they are very quick to resolve it and discuss all of the options.
The owners, Frankie and Ivan, take their time with each client, so they can fully understand what your goals are. Frankie is also a fantastic designer and has come up with so many great ideas that I never thought of! The light fixtures, vanities and accessories she finds are always so unique and the client doesn't even have to pay for her design time. Instead, it is part of the package! She will even shop with you at various places for your construction material and help you make design decisions. They are the best!

Frankie and Ivan are the dream team. Two complete bathroom remodels were completed on time and with great professionalism. Crews installed Zip Walls and furniture draping to alleviate dust and create a walkway which was covered with board not drop cloths which are hazardous. They arrived on time, worked continuously and left on time after thoroughly cleaning up. Their work was virtually flawless. Ivan showed up frequently to check on the work and progress. He kept me up to date on what was going on and what was needed. Quite focused and low key. No disputes.
Frankie is a design wizard, really excellent at finding fixtures and paint selection--all within budget. I wouldn't hesitate to work with her on layout and detail for future projects. She has a positive attitude.
Their pricing was the most reasonable within a range of highly recommended contractors.
A great experience..

Absolutely another fantastic job - exactly what I thought it would be -within budget - and all done without my supervision while I was out of the Country. His workmen are truly artisans and their work ethic is superb.
