About Us

James Martin has been finishing wood for over 20 years. He has worked in some of the finest homes in New England; Including the 2004 Boston Design home, in which he was responsible for all of the painting, cabinetry, and woodwork. He consistently works in high end homes both new and renovated. He refinishes everything from entertainment centers and small galley kitchens to massive sprawling homes with movie theaters and wood paneled libraries. Jim is also a nationally renowned instructor in wood finishing. Teaching in Hopkinton, MA, Dallas, TX, and Vero Beach, FL. His students have gone on to work in many design homes nationwide. Jim consistently strives to expand his range of finishes to insure that every customer, large or small, gets the look they desire. My husband and I are extremely pleased with the outcome of our kitchen cabinets! When I first spoke to Jim he spent a good 30 minutes speaking to me about how he could help us and he didn't even know if he had our business yet. Two years later we were ready to make the investment and I knew right away who to call. Jim is very knowledgeable about his work and it is evident in the finished product! Our kitchen looks like a brand new kitchen. It's warm and inviting and exactly what we hoped it would be! The cabinets look and feel exactly as they would if we had bought them new! The men Jim employs with are also very professional and friendly. We have friends and family who are now considering doing their kitchens after seeing ours!

If you are thinking of painting your cabinets, look no further. We updated ours from a wood to a white and they look like brand new cabinets and at the fraction of the cost it would have taken to actually replace them. Jim’s work is absolutely wonderful. He is a true professional and him and his crew are efficient. We have gotten so many compliments on the cabinets. I highly recommend Jim and Frankenstein refinishing!

We have received so many compliments on our cabinets! Jim uses a special paint that is equivalent to, if not better than a factory finish, and believe me it's ABSOLUTELY worth the price. If we ever decide to move and want to repaint cabinets, I know that Frankenstein will be my only call. Jim was fantastic to work with, very professional and attentive, and even came back at a later date to do touch ups. I can't recommend Frankenstein enough. If you want to redo your cabinets and make them look like new (if not better than new) your search ends here.

If you're looking to have your cabinets painted or refinished, look no further. Jim and his team painted our cherry cabinets white at our house 2 years ago and we just hired them again to paint cabinets in our new house. Their work is fast, clean, and the cabinets look like they came right out of the factory -- no paint streaks, no imperfections. They are finished with a beautiful white satin-like lacquer that is so smooth. You won't be disappointed with their work -- don't call anyone else!

My kitchen was a high-quality cherry and in good condition but wanted the glamorous look of white cabinets. Jim showed us a sample of his work and we were surprised at how beautiful our kitchen could potentially look. The finish is a smooth, hard lacquer with a soft gorgeous sheen. Wendel and Javier worked very hard to be detailed yet the process was very quick...only about 3-4 days. Our kitchen is so glamorous and beautiful, people are amazed at the transformation! I would highly recommend Frankenstein again and again!
