Not enough space here to convey how happy we were with our decision to trust Lisa Dall'Olio to design our dream home. The experience was everything we wanted it to be. I had studied hundreds of house plans over the years and never found one that captured what I wanted in our forever home--style, size, rooms and their locations, building materials--and was suited to our build site to provide the desired views/privacy, light and airflow. We turned to an architect to help us realize our dreams. She listened carefully, reviewed my Houzz ideabooks, and produced a few sketches to get started, one of which was rather different from what I had in mind but which served to open my mind to other ideas. We collaborated remotely with occasional in-person meetings (we were living thousands of miles away) and once we settled on the general plan, she took it through the next steps...culminating eventually (after a few more iterations and input from the chosen builder) in the construction plans. She identified candidate builders and helped us through preliminary discussions, the bid process, and finalizing the contract with the selected general contractor. She offered flexible options for construction supervision, using her services as much or as little as we needed. As issues arose, we worked as a team--architect, GC, clients--to address them. Our home is beautiful, functions like we wanted it to, and was completed on budget--all of which were critical for us. We are thrilled!

Having met these folks prior to even deciding to build a home for continued employment carrying into retirement, we were struck with their values and orientation to creating a satisfying quality of life in a non-intrusive, sustainable fashion in harmony with existing eco-systems. And, they are younger than we and still building a family. In addition, they stay current with constantly evolving technologies and materials and seem to be connected with contractors, subs, and vendors who understand similar perspectives. G/D listens, absorbs, understands, suggests, and modifies with appreciated insight and creative style. An orignal hexagon concept proved too costly and complicated for the ground, and G/D has modified the design to simplify construction and reduce cost while maintaining the crucial elements incorporated into the original footprint. I'll confess that I don't even miss that hexagon anymore. We're still in process with schematics and mechanicals, and they've been very sensitive to our budget concerns, but are intent with creating a space we can all be proud of. Check back later, and I'm confident that fifth star will be there.

We have worked with Grove & Dall'Olio on three home projects over the past 15 years. The first job was a historic (1860) farm mansion. The project included new electrical, HVAC, interior walls and new kitchen. G&D was awesome. They understand & love historical structures but have have real contemporary taste. Their balance and execution made the renovation very easy...and it should have been very hard. The second job was updating a more contemporary (1986) mountainside home. Most the work revolved around making a weekend home and full-time home. We updated a kitchen, created storage space and converted a reading area into a child's bedroom. G&D's work was smart & affordable. This was a comparably easy job that they kept easy (for us). Last year, we renovated a 1950s-era home in small town with G&D's help. This house took a lot of thought. It had odd rooms/spaces throughout that need re-arranged to make livable for a family of five. We looked at a lot of options, form big to small, to find a plan that balanced everything - our needs, our budget, and our tight reconstruction timeframe. If I ever need to do another house (a remodel or new build), I will hire G&D. They are talented and enjoyable people.
