About Us

GWC Design Architects works tirelessly to create the home you have always wanted. When working with us, we plan as many details as possible so nothing is forgotten or ignored. My Architectural Firm has designed and observed construction of over 80 Commercial Projects and 520 Single Family and Multi Family Projects – over 1200 total units. I have a long track record in the South Bay Area, acting as architect of record on all types of Projects, resulting in over 2 million sq. ft. of construction area. This work includes development, design and construction of 15 of my own projects and providing Design + Build Services on selected projects for 8 of my clients. I am currently completing a Design + Build project in Hermosa Beach, as well as overseeing construction on 4 New single family homes, a Unique 3 Unit Condominium on the Esplanade in Redondo Beach, a 30 Thousand SF Commercial Design Center in Lomita, Ca on Pacific Coast Hwy as well as a 20 Unit Condominium plus 8000 sf Commercial Structure as a Mixed Use Development in Lomita, Ca. Personal experience and knowledge of the latest construction methods, materials and techniques is an integral part of my firm’s knowledge base, as we have provided construction observation for all of our over 600 projects.

Jerry is great architect to work with. He listens to what you want to do and figures out a way to make it come to life. My husband and I bought a very dated home that was a foreclosure. With Jerry's help it was transformed and updated making great use of all the available space. Jerry is a pleasure to work with and is available when needed.

I hired Jerry to design my first one bedroom garage conversion in Long Beach. Being that it was my first design project, I had a lot of questions and uncertainties. Jerry took care of everything. He worked tirelessly designing my project using his decades of experience and up to date knowledge of the latest trends as well as city codes and regulations to design the most cost efficient, structurally sound and city approved unit. And although Jerry was extremely busy with much bigger projects, he always made time to answer my questions and had my best interest in mind trying to help me save money and maximize square footage. As a result, I absolutely love the layout and design of my unit! In short, Jerry was a pleasure to work with and I highly recommend his services to anyone needing a top level architect for any project, big or small.

I have worked with Gerald Compton since 2002 or so. He is so creative in each house I have had the pleasure of selling or visiting. The most creative beautiful personal treasures made out of 1960 - 1970 plain spec builders and development homes have been architecturally designed and remodeled or completely re built from ground - up by Gerald. For instance, a development home was transformed with ceilings at varying heights in different rooms and different angles ,that were so artistic, a a swimming pool was built overlooking the ocean with an infinity pool that looked from the house as if the water was flowing into the ocean. Breakfast bars curved for a modern original style, enclosed the front yard with a current style gated front patio so it didn't look like any other development home on the block. Another home, the ceilings were lifted and shaped. The owners were very tall and it was a smaller home that grew into spacious comfortable personal design. Home was remodeled interior only down to the studs. Walls moved. Gorgeous. He is a genius. Homes built or rebuilt approximately 2014 and 2011. And there are many more.

Sherry Sidney

I have know Gerald Compton for many years. He is a wonderful Architect and Designer of Homes. He did a house for me over 25 years ago the first time. The house in Manhattan Beach was fantastic. Later Jerry did a second home for my daughter and her husband at the Beach. They love their Beach Cottage. He is now helping us remodel a home for my son and his family. The City of Manhattan Beach has been difficult, but Jerry has helped us and we hope to have the remodel done soon. He is truly a super guy with a lot of talent.
