Welcome to Happy Home Design. Our design philosophy is simple: your home should be your happy place. As Dorothy said in The Wizard of Oz, "There is no place like home." Happy Home Design specializes in creating cozy homes, especially for retirement living. It's not just about how your home looks, but it's about how it makes you feel. We are a husband and wife team and we have been designing happy homes for families who started the company in 2007. Since relocating to Nanaimo in 2021, we now happily serve our clients in Nanaimo and surrounding areas in Central Vancouver Island. Our clients consist of individuals in their retirement, as well as busy families with young kids. Our projects range from luxury homes to one-bedroom apartment. We have been named one of the 30 best interior design companies in Vancouver for our specialty in turning small spaces into cozy spaces. Working with us is as easy as 1, 2 & 3. Stage 1 is our initial design consultation, where we come to your home with personalized design tips and advice. If you'd need more help after that, then stage 2 is where we create your full design with a design concept, mood board, floor plans, and our most popular 3-D design. And if you want a turn key service, then stage 3 is where we make all the purchases for you and project manage various trades to ease the headache of overseeing so many details. So if you ever feel lost or overwhelmed, we are here to help you navigate through all those difficult decisions of choosing the right furniture and down to the right paint colour. I sought out Happy Home Design when I realized professional help was required to plan out my 600 sqft 1 bedroom condo unit. Danny and Sandra professionally designed my unit through consultation about my needs and preferences. The end result was an expertly crafted study, dining, and living areas that are fully functional yet aesthetically pleasing. Happy Home Design added exceptional value when it was time to rent out my condo. You can ask them for pictures of the final result - simply amazing! Metro Vancouver living space is becoming smaller every day and professional small space designers are a must in order to maximize your space and comfort. "This is my first home buying and major renovation experience. The entire process took about 6 months to complete and I absolutely love the results. Before I asked Danny and Sandra to work on this project, my knowledge of home design only extended as far as looking at stores like Ikea or Home Depot. Before starting, I knew that home decor and renovations involve many decisions to make, but with Danny and Sandra at the helm, I was confident that with every decision I make, there was logical and sensible reasoning behind each one. There were also many times when I had no clue what I wanted, but they were able to offer plenty of ideas that they believe would suit my preference and also work with the rest of the decor. What I most appreciated about the whole design was that there was one complete flow in the home. From room to room, one furniture piece to the next, there was always one unifying concept, and while my personal preferences were present, every piece of furniture and decor spoke to one another seamlessly. For me, the end result would be described as comfortable, functional, and pleasing to the eye. It was incredible to see how a 30-year-old apartment can be turned into a beautiful new 2 bedroom home. If someone was on the fence about whether to contract their services, I'd say it to definitely go for it. It is literally the best decision I made for my new home.

These guys are wonderful! Danny's design expertise combined with Sandra's organization and finishing touches make for a truly great design team. They have done four rooms for us so far: a home office for me, two kids bedrooms and another office/art room for the kids. They are great at working in small spaces and really, really good at working with what's already there so that you aren't throwing out too much or saving money at the same time. Highly recommended.

I bought an old apartment and hired Happy Home Design to help me with interior decor and could not be happier with my choice. Sandra and Danny came swooping in and help me narrow down my style, gave me creative ideas for each room. I love how they turned my old, boring, flat looking apartment into a dream vacation home that i am proud of and it is completed within budget. Now i have a great place to “come home to” and i am so please with their professional work. I highly recommend all homeowners to give Happy Home Design a shot. You will be so glad you did!

We hired Chan + Dee Designs to assist us with our living room makeover. Having seen their portfolio on Facebook, we liked their style and engaged them (through an e-service), despite living in another country. The first step was to have a skype voice call to get to know them and so that they could understand our requirements. We then sent pictures of the room, floor plans, measurements and websites of local furniture shops. Within a week, Danny came up with 3 options (each with a mood board) and we ended up going with one of them. The proposals were extremely detailed and even had the exact prices for all the furniture. Our initial skepticism of engaging an e-service from an ID vanished as everything was well taken care of. Furthermore, Danny continued to follow up after the project to see if we needed any help with accessorizing. We enjoyed the whole experience; it was an affordable and effective solution that met our requirements. Everybody loves our new living room!

Danny and Sandra helped us design our 910 square feet apartment based on their assessments of our tastes. I love the color schemes of the wall, and the furniture and fixtures that they helped us select. They are good at maximizing storage space in a small apartment. I am glad that they persisted in persuading me to accept some of their designs that I disagreed with at first. For example, new lamp fixtures, area rug in living room, big blue clock in entry way. In hind sight they were right, these things do make our place look better.
