Heckard's Door

We had a great experience with Heckard Door. Barry came by, took measurements and designed the door together. Paid the deposit and weeks later the door came in. He installed it as well as new hardware a few days later. We are in love with our new door!!! Thank you for all your help, Barry!

I made a social media post about @heckardsdoor & how the owner Barry Heckard, has taken our money but not done any work. He was scheduled (by him) to come do part of the work on Saturday August 3, 2019. Saturday came & went. After back & forth emails (never a phone call) & ridiculous excuses from him- I made my negative social media posts against Barry & @heckardsdoor. He reached out via email, repeatedly asking me to take them down & for me to give him the chance to “make it right.” I told him I would take them down when he came & did the work. He said he would personally do the work himself & rescheduled for August 7, 2019 & said he would be at the house between 9-10am. So (against my better judgement) I removed my Social Media posts. Rick (my husband) waited until 10:30 AM & of course, Barry never showed up. Rick calls him. He answers & says “I sent your wife emails early this morning saying that we are working on all of the wood for your project & then that he would be here WITH A CREW to complete the job on Friday.” Rick explained to him that we don’t check our emails every hour on the hour & that he should’ve called. So.... fast forward to Friday 8/9/19- The morning came... & went. No Barry or crew or call. Rick called Barry (straight to VM,) I call Barry (Straight to VM)- we call the business numbers posted on IG. No answer. We call the number on the @heckardsdoor website- No answer. I send Barry a “where are you?” Email, as well as “Barry, where are you?” Texts, and so did my husband. Finally- at 1:20 pm & 1:22 pm Rick & I get a text from Barry- he tells me he’s in Utah for a family situation... he tells Rick “In Montana.” SO.... 3 missed appointments later- LIE after LIE, excuse after excuse- here I sit, making this post. This is my first time in the history of Social Media, to post something negative like this about a company. We don’t EVER tell our personal business- but as of 4/3/19 this guy is into us for more than 16K. We have nothing to show for it. Please pass the word. Don’t Hire them!! What a nightmare!!

Beware! We decided to go with Barry because we wanted to get the doors installed prior to moving in, Barry promised us it would be a quick and painless process and he said it could be done within 2 months. We provided a down payment first week of December 2018 of over $10,000 for 4 French doors. Barry told my family and I that the job would be completed by end of January. When that time came, Barry said there were delays and that they would be ready mid February. At the Feb deadline, Barry once again stated there were delays and that the doors would be ready March 11. By March 11, Barry stated there were delays again and continued to blame suppliers without providing us proof or evidence of what was going on. Every time we asked questions, he was always very vague and tried to avoid the questions. The final promised date to us was April 11. By April 11, Barry stated two of the doors were discontinued by the supplier. So it took Barry 4 months to find out the doors were discontinued by the suppliers!? I spoke with Barry's staff when he wasn't in the office one day and the staff confirmed that no parts were ordered for us until 2/19. So it took almost 3 months after we provided deposit for Barry to order our parts!? This whole thing has been extremely stressful for my family and I. He clearly spent our down payment back in December. There's a reason why there's numerous one star reviews on google. He's clearly pulling the same moves on people throughout Gainesville.

Ordered a huge door and paid a deposit of $16,000. We were quoted a lead time of 8-10 weeks. We are on week 13 and the owner Barry is not able to tell us when/if we will get our door. Find another door company.

Buyer beware! I ordered and paid in full for a window that was supposed to be completed in six weeks. 6 weeks is up so I have tried calling over the past three days and and I'm getting the complete run-around. I'm told there is only one person, Charles, who knows anything about it and he's never in and doesn't return my calls or isn't being given my messages.

I wonder what has happened since 2015 when all the reviews seem to have ended. Maybe its because the owner Barry “doesn’t have time fir this” - his words not mine. Two years ago we installed of the wonderful Neuma sliding gliding patio doors with the two side panels and we were extremely happy with the installation supervised by Barry. In July of this year our yard guy spun a pebble off his weed whacker which broke the outside of one of the side panels my head totally impossible to see-through and obviously needing replacement. To make matters worse we were closing on the sale of the house three days later. To cut a long story short I contacted heck of doors and Barry could not be bothered to come and measure it but wanted me to supply him the dimensions which obviously is not the right way to do things. After many phone calls and email attempts he finally came up with the replacement of the panel idea stating that the glass could not be replaced but that the whole door had to be removed and the side panel replaced at a fee of $2500. I had to agree and paid him the 50% deposit and we have still not got the door. Many more email it to him I’m phone call have still failed to get the door and I have been told by Barry that it is now ordered. If that is the case why would he offer me my money back only a week ago or less and make his comment about “i just don’t have time for this?” I can only suggest that you do what I am doing and finding another Neuma door installer who will prove to be far more reliable and responsive to a customer who spent a lot of money with this company. CAVEAT EMPTOR

I emailed Barry re: replacing our 3 panel sliding glass doors with french doors and sidelites. He called me the next day and started the process. When he came to my home, he explained thoroughly how it could be done and what it would look like. The job took one day and the result was and is beautiful. We are completely satisfied with the function and look of the doors as well as the trim molding around them. It was a good experience and we would highly recommend Heckard's Door. Barry, Heather and Josh were all agreeable and easy to work with. They also have a great website with lots of pictures and info.

We hired Heckard's Door to replace the sliding glass doors to our lanai with gliding french doors with enclosed mini-blinds. They did a great job and were very easy to work with. Their prices were reasonable they honored their adjusted estimate. I would hire them again and highly recommend them to install and/or replace doors. We happily admire their work and appreciate our new doors every single day as we can now close the blinds on our new French doors to provide us with some privacy at night.

I could not be more pleased with the final product from Heckard's Doors. Barry, the owner of Heckard's Doors was 100% involved and dedicated to professional excellence from initial design to final installation and clean-up. One of the best experiences I've had with any kind of construction. Heckard's installed a new exterior door, including complete framing and finishing; helped us pick the most appropriate door and finish. The result and timing were exactly as promised and far superior to similar jobs other vendors have done for me.
