HandyPro of Columbus

HandyPro of Columbus has been our go-to for several recent home renovation projects. They renovated a bath, added a new bath, and are currently completing the finish carpentry throughout our home. Their commitment to craftsmanship and quality has been outstanding. Shawn, Chris and the entire HandyPro team have been such a pleasure to work with as well! They are trustworthy, friendly, and committed to delivering 110%. We'd recommend them to anyone!

The work done per the handy man was thorough and complete. He was professional and quick. I was a little disappointed with the cost as it was very expensive for the amount of work that was done . I did sign an agreement for an estimate but when I spoke with the company they quoted me no more than 300 dollars with 300 being the higher end. They said 600 a day is the usual charge. The handyman was there for 3.5 hours and I was charged 310. Not only that but the work that was done was very simplistic: re-inserting a towel holder, mounting a sound bar (2 screws) and placing 2 floating shelves with brackets. We provided all of the materials and we also tipped the handyman. It was just far too expensive for little work so for that reason I wouldn’t re-hire and find a better price.

Tom was awesome. My mother showed him what she was interested in for her bathroom vanity and over the toilet cabinet. He did exactly what she had hoped for. We had mostly little repairs for them to do but we had three new outlets and two new canned lights in the kitchen. Tom even put in a dimmer switch for them. They installed drywall in my garage and repaired another wall. They also went above and beyond by installing a light fixture and a switch in my closet that I had thought about doing. We got what we paid for and then some. Would hire again most definitely.

We hired Handypro to update our small half bath. We were very pleased with the finished product. They paid attention to detail and kept us involved with all aspects of the remodel. We will use them again for various projects. Highly recommended!

I am the Treasurer of a HOA in Upper Arlington near Columbus OHio. The Condo Assn needed to remove a unit owners ceiling, insert six large long joists for support and then have the ceiling inspected by two engineers and the Upper Arlington Building Dept. After passing he then had to reinstall the ceiling. This was a major project taking 10 days with many scheduling issues and complex discussions with other professionals. Tom made the home owner happy that the dust and debris were minimized. All was completed on time on budget and to the satisfaction of all. The engineers complimented Tom on his ingenuity and innovation in resolving some of the issues that were encountered. The Condo Board was so impressed that we continue to this day in April 2017 to use Tom at the HOA for many other projects. Several other residents have used him privately. I cannot speak more highly of Tom his company and his workers.

From the start, Handy Pro was the most professional in providing a quote (timely...complete) out of the three quotes I received. The work itself... they took down a non-retaining wall separating my kitchen from the living room, matched the floors in the kitchen with the living room, removed pine panelling in one room, created a new entrance to the only bathroom of the house, repaired damaged floor in the bathroom, installed a new tub and then re-tiled the floors and surround, removed two built-ins, refinished ALL the wood floors in the house and did a lot of trim/detail work. They checked in regularly...did extra work that made the house look very finished...and kept me updated throughout the process. I would use them again in a heartbeat.

Loved these guys. They did a very professional remodeling job on a competitive budget. I would hire them again to tackle other big projects around my home.

We hired HandyPro for two separate jobs. Both times they were on time, professional, and had an eye for detail. We have been very pleased with their work.

The owner of this company came to do a pre-visit to check on all our projects. He was prompt, professional, and clear about the work. The man that did most of the work once the projects began was kind, prompt, thorough, and gave much attention to detail. I would definitely hire this company to do many more handyman jobs in years to come!

We have used Handypro of W-NW Columbus many, many times over the last several years for everything from minor household repairs to major projects, including flooring, retaining walls, complete bathroom and kitchen remodels and cabinetry work. Most recently, Tom and his team removed a wall and installed fine oak trim and woodwork in our 5000+ sq ft custom-built home. His craftsmanship far exceeds that of our builder and we have never been disappointed. Tom Mills is reputable, trustworthy and does excellent work. His prices are also very reasonable. I have very high standards and rarely give five stars. Tom has earned every one of them, along with my complete trust and respect.

ok...so here's the story in bullet points: 1. Had a meeting to review for an estimate for complete condo refurbishment. Representative was very abrupt and constantly talked me down from wanting new hardware to refurbishing existing hardware. Scheduled to take around a week. 2. Work set to being 2nd week of September 3. 3rd week went to review. Wall painting was poor - baseboards not painted at all, those that were had poor filler in broken spaces, closet racking not repaired as requested, acquired a new hole in kitchen wall, rotten fruit found in kitchen cabinet (???), caulking in bathroom was awful. Handypro swears that old caulking was removed and new installed - but it's an inch wide and lumpy. Front door paint was peeling away. 4. Requested correction of upstairs paint job, bathroom caulking - still waiting on kitchen counters. 5. Week later. Front door paint still peeling away. Bathroom caulking has been painted over - doesn't stick (paint should go on first, then caulking, not the other way around). 6. Week later, storm door still weeks away, along with a closet door. Kitchen counters installed, ok. Baseboards all broken and messed up - really regret not insisting on new throughout as I originally wanted. Weird new 3" panel behind refrigerator installed that means anyone in the kitchen can't reach garbage disposal switch - where did this come from ???...looks like kids have spit ball the back side. What is this ??!!! 7. Storm door installed, ok. Front door, paint still peeling. 8. Now last week of October. Contractor says they want to install closet door, but have lost the key to the condo. I cut him loose. At this point the liability on my behalf now that a tenant is moving in is too high. I never did get that closet door - over a month after the commitment. In summary: this contractor always takes short cuts and waits for criticism before correcting (note: their guarantee is that if you're not satisfied they'll return to correct - take that statement on face value). Is not interested in quality and has no regard of commitments for timescale. Certainly has no care or attention of the integrity of your property (lost key). What can I say. What could anyone say ?!!!....this is truly abysmal behavior. I only took on their business as they were the first of 3 to respond. In hindsight, this was a spectacular mistake. What a sad mistake. I'm no paying for a second contractor to refit the carpet (carpet tacks sticking up through the edging), fix paint issues and fix the closet racks (again). I'm sure that these guys could tighten up a loose screw or fix the odd broken light, but a major refurbishment was clearly out of their league. Useless. They should be embarrassed. Sad example of the industry.

Both our full basement build out and deck construction were finished on time, on budget and with amazing quality. Tom and his staff were always prompt, very professional and fully respectful of our time. The finished areas of our home they needed to traverse to access areas they were working in were carefully protected and the work areas themselves remained clean and safe, even in the busiest and heaviest construction times. As with any project of the size and scope of ours there were several necessary modifications to the original plans and Tom calmly managed those changes, always clearly tracking any financial impact, through the completion. There were areas of the project unrelated to the construction with various vendors that Tom graciously assisted us with. Completely trustworthy to the point of giving them full access to the home even when we were out of town. Handy Pro of NW Columbus gets the highest rating possible.
