Brady is full of useful information and good ideas! For several years now, she has helped us develop a rural garden surrounding a new house....she has selected trees, perrenials, ferns and ground covers. We are pleased with her designs and with how the plants look now that they have matured. Brady knows the realities of maintaining a large garden and has helped us create a beautiful space that we can manage on our own....we'll sort of! We enjoy working with her as she is cheerful, hardworking and flexible.

Irene came highly recommended to us by the many neighbors who have engaged her services. We had done some looking and she was really the only business we interviewed that was willing to work with us, rather than needing to plan and do it all herself. As this was extremely important to us, we knew right away that Irene was the one for the job. Irene knows her plants and she knows the business, what goes where, what does well in all climates. What we have now is light years from what we started with. And I don't think we could ever have gotten there without her help, but more importantly, without her vision...

We built a brand new house and Irene enhanced the setting, transforming our land with natives and ornamentals. She is a horticultural expert and extremely creative. my garden is admired by many, and loved dearly by myself. she stays loyal to me to repair any winter damage each spring. a pleasure to be with, work with, and see everything so alive year round. also put in fantastic hard scraping, stone work that is gorgeous.

Irene created a landscape plan for us using much of our existing plant stock, and adding new trees and shrubs that she thoroughly described and discussed with us during the process. She is VERY knowledgeable, creative and has a very good eye for blending the new and the old. We wanted a less manicured look, and she worked with us to create more of a wilderness feel for our yard. As an extra bonus, she moved an existing and mangy magnolia from the back yard, which transformed the front yard. She is a delight to work with, and clearly loves what she does!

Irene is incredibly talented and has a "natural eye" for what looks best in our landscape. She picked the perfect plants and her knowledge base is unparalleled. She is easy to work with, and extremely gifted! Her passion for plants is evident.

I hired Irene Brady Barber after interviewing another Landscape Designer. She resurrected a 25 year old tiered garden in Bar Harbor, Maine. Her drawings were clearly laid out and respected my desire to have things blooming at different times through the Spring and Summer. I asked that it be a scape that didn't require my constant attention as summers are busy on the coast of Maine, She also had fantastic suggestions for our 4 large pots around the property and a flower box on the house; plants that I would have never considered and all have been fabulous. Irene worked well with the subs who extracted the old plants and revitalized the soil. After the first year we lost some plants and moved some plants that were particularly affected by the very cold winter. She has been very willing to come up to Bar Harbor and work with me in the past year. I learned so much from her and she is so knowledgeable.

Irene's has a wealth of knowledge on every aspect of landscape gardening from plant selections, specific care and maintenance needed, to the all important design for your space. After a thorough analysis of your space and microclimates, she will draw up a plan with specific recommendations based on your likes, budget and abilities. I love the flexibility I have with Irere to be able to work on the area's I feel comfortable with on my own and but also be able to have her come back for seasonal "check up's" and follow up work when I need help. Since hardscape is often part of a design, She works with many talented subcontractors who where sensitive to our time lines and budgets.

We had Irene design 2 different large residential landscape projects for us. Both are unique and surpassed our expectations! From design, rock and plant selections and plantings to earthscaping, the end results continue to please us! We now have our 3rd project that we will be having Irene design and complete for us. We expect it will, once again, be more pleasing than we can imagine.

Irene Barber handles the indoor and outdoor plants at both of our Wild Oats Bakery locations. She is incredibly knowledgeable and does a fabulous job bringing natural beauty to a setting, while also keeping in mind the environmental implications of her designs. We would highly recommend her!

Irene Brady Barber transformed the property on either side of our city home from large undeveloped grassy fields to a beautifully designed multi-sensory outdoor space that we enjoy all four seasons! One side consists of an orchard including multiple varieties of fruit bearing trees and raised garden beds for vegetables and herbs. On the other side, she brought in elements of texture and variation in the grade of the property. It includes a stone wall, a bluestone path, a hot tub and lovely patio with a hops-covered pergola where we entertain. The outer perimeters of the lot are a mix of evergreen trees, bushes and flowering perennials anchored by lovely river birch trees. During the project which rolled out over the course of 3 years, she kept us informed about all the whats and whys and hows. Her listening skills and breadth of knowledge allowed her finished product to reflect our personal preferences and how they best fit within the specific space we had available. She was very sensitive and responsive to our questions and needs while the project was in progress. And now that it is completed, she continues to be a wonderful resource as things continue to evolve!

Extremely professional and talented. Landscaping designs (hardscaping & plantings) are smart & reasonable. Encyclopedic knowledge of trees, shrubs and perennials!! Very friendly, outgoing personality. Truly enjoyed working with Irene in every way. Design was for entire side yard and back yard that included new retaining walls, patio re-dos (small & large) with natural stone, re-working available spaces to incorporate vegetable as well as flower gardens, seating areas, work areas. I cannot recommend Irene highly enough!
